METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Any advice for taking out heavy infantry stealthily?
So thanks to the "Bound Dragons" FOB mission I've been dealing with these alot, unfortunately other than explossives I've only found 2 ways to dispatch them: The Brennan/serval AMR and sleep grenades. Sadly the supressor on those rifles are very limited (I don't know if I'm missing something to get better silencers than the low durability ones) and for the sleep grenades/EMN mines I'm limited in their number and hate using them for a single enemy.

Any advice as to what to pack in other than grenade launchers to help me take those out silently?

Kung Fu always did the trick for me, even in FOB missions.

In FOB missions I would find a corner and let the enemy spot me, not to alert state but enough to call in an investigation team. When they arrive, I would just pop out from behind corner and CQC chain them all down, then kick them one by one to wake them up and with a gun to force them to stay down. Can take large groups of heavily armored soldiers down that way. And looks badass to boot. :D

yeah I've done that but the problem is for some reason my snake decides "Nah, I won't CQC that guy despite the prompt being on screen, I'll just do my fail grab animation like the player's pressing RT while crouching and there being no enemies around, after that I'll get filled with lead and I can join the Boss in real Heaven cause ♥♥♥♥ you that's why!"

try the decoy method.

Stun shotgun, cqc, stun arm, rocket arm, riot gas pistol, stun grenades, sleep grenades, decoys. This is everything that can be used to non-lethal the riot gear guards.

Stun shotgun, Uragan, nades, mines, Jehuty arm. Rocket arm. Tons of choices.

When I try a cqc chain, the second guy calls a combat alert while I'm downing the first one. Something that never happens in normal play.

Have you developed all the other sniper rifles? One or more of them will have the "3 bar" silencer. Same applies to all guns really.
Yeah I did but the 3 bar silencers don't apply to the brenan nor the Serval which is why I asked if I was missing something there. They both only have a 1 bar silencer

Have you tried the blast arm prostetic? that thing is infinite ammo guided rocket that critically wounds heavy armored targets and instant gib anything else. Its splash range is also huge

It doesn't trigger an alarm either. they jsut come investigate the source of the explosion sound, which lures even more in. Soldiers also tend to spend alot of time on their critically wounded comrades if they find one

Try to gather them up at one point (Decoy) and blast them all to hell

I haven't done that, I like the idea of the rocket arms but due to how still I remain while it flies it worries me due to how exposed I end up.

I would spam it from a safe corner. Like at start for example.
Although I just tested it and on the dragons bound event they are pretty resistance to it (2 shot vs 1 shot. one blast completely destroys their armor though).

It is still great though. Stun rocket arm still KO's them one hit.
I used the Brenann mostly, found out that their leg armor is the weakest and you can crit shot them with one hit from it (breaking a leg, perhaps?)

I basicly used the rocket arm on the first platform. Wasting most of them, CQC the rest. Then trigger an sensor to lure in the guards from next platform. Sniping them on the crossover.

By the time I killed two platforms off. My silencer was done for. No matter, since I sniped from the second platform, out of hearing range, towards platform 3. Killing them all.

Be sure to resque every prisoner (one each paltform) use your sonar to find them

Good luck out there, Boss!

Thanks, I do know about the brenan though I always headshot, didn't think of using enemies as bait which is quite brilliant.

I did know they're quite resillient to explosions as they take 2 direct hit from the HAIL grenade launcher and can take 4 or 5 from the secondary weapon one.

As for CQC I avoid it when I can because everytime I try to chain it either Boss won't do the CQC or the second/third of the group will trigger an alarm while I'm throwing the first guy.

Didn't know there was a hearing range maximum, possibly due to how bad a shot I am, I tend to get too close for comfort with my rifles. As for finding the prisoners I carry around the Pill thing that shows you living creatures through walls without having marked them, quite useful when you're used to having DD or Quiet scout for you, or when you're just running fast through the landscape and want to avoid bases

Thanks for the advice I'll deffinitely try these once the replacement parts for my PC show up (Dropped a coffee cup on it, luckily that's still covered by warranty)

You do know you can customise and add different attachments to guns, right? I have a 3-bar silencer on my Brennan.
