METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Any advice for taking out heavy infantry stealthily?
So thanks to the "Bound Dragons" FOB mission I've been dealing with these alot, unfortunately other than explossives I've only found 2 ways to dispatch them: The Brennan/serval AMR and sleep grenades. Sadly the supressor on those rifles are very limited (I don't know if I'm missing something to get better silencers than the low durability ones) and for the sleep grenades/EMN mines I'm limited in their number and hate using them for a single enemy.

Any advice as to what to pack in other than grenade launchers to help me take those out silently?

Flashbangs don't break stealth, smoke grenades can let you get in range to CQC them, and there's always C4 deathtraps.

Also sleeping grenades, stun arm, etc.

I didn't know stun 'nades didn't break stealth, though I'm more interested in ways to take them out 1 by 1, is there somewhere on them I can shoot sleep needles from my secondary that'll actually have an effect?

They'll alert the guards, but it won't cause a full combat alert.
Supposedly through the visor slit, but CQC or full stealth are probably more reliable than that.
I've tried the visor with the AO wu pistol which is supposed to go through glass but I guess not THAT glass, also I suck at full stealth since my stealth method is "Fulton everybody"

I think I used Quiet for all of them. Just having her fight them by herself won't count towards your detections, but I remember having their helmets forcibly removed, I don't remember if I used to shoot first or have Quiet get the helmet and myself doubletapping with a nonlethal.

I think the lethal Brennan oneshots them tho, so if you're going for the cheap route just have non-lethal Quiet fight them while you pick them apart with the usual CQC as they fight her.

All of this comes from before MGO's launch, so things might have changed.
Can't use Quiet in the FOB Events, that's where I have trouble with them. In the side ops they only wonder in groups of 2 and the areas aren't widely open so it's much easier there. Also a combat alert doesn't seem to pour out hundreds of guys.

While doing the FOB event's support platform I got a combat alert and watched as two waves of like 20 guys seemed to pop out of nowhere from under the platform. Luckily grenades took em out but still that's terrifying!

Unfortunately I can't help there. I never liked the FOB design and gameplay, so I mostly stuck with single player content. I think I did something like 3-4 infiltrations and never touched it again (nobody ever bothered my own FOB either).

On the other hand, if it's on a FOB can't you just skip them? Even if they are S+ or ++, there's going to be easier options I guess (even from the infiltration reward)?
The FOB events are on AI owned FOBs where you have objectives like kill 4 skulls, or in this case on each of the 4 platforms there are prisoners you must fulton out, then you need to find the core and take that.

Due to how I played the game I have no skill at being invisible without sedating/killing everyone so yeah that's my main problem at the moment.

Try throwing decoys under their feet and activate it. I used it a lot in this event. There is also an event pistol (ADM RP or something) that releases a sleep gas on impact. Hand of Jehuty is also great if you get close to them.
I don't have that event pistol, last skulls event is when I discovered the events in the first place.
I used the decoys before though I get frustrated because they often see me throwing them and you can't trigger them from inside a box without popping out of it. I get why you can't use a gun from inside the box but pushing a freakin' button? Come on!

Grab them and slit their throats.
I do that alot, but then they get on alert when they find their buddies cause I can't pick up the corpses to hide them for some stupid reason... Probably because it's too obvious to throw them overboard, so I tend to just stun them and then throw them in the ocean.

Eh, try the stun shotgun.

up close and personal. use decoys, magazines anything that distracts them so they are alone or 3 guys together to perform a cqc chain.

the best way is to avoid them altogether if you can.
