I am at mission 45 and i have been using AM-MRS the whole time, it never lets me down.Though you might also try UN-ARC

my experience showed that assault rifles are not really useful over other things.
core idea of assault rifle is to have a weapon that can fit many needs, solid range, high dmg output, but none compares to S1000 air shotgun. I see no reason to use any other hip weapon in this game.Unless you go for certain mission objectives
if you like automatic you should go for machine guns that go on the back, also macht and ze'ev are good secondary and you can find plenty of ammo for that from enemies
