It's because of the inability of the community to look at it in a decent light. MGS isn't an extremely popular franchise, it has a decent following, but the majority of that following has deemed Survive ♥♥♥♥♥♥ before it's release, so they probably won't end up buying it. Survive will kill the franchise because the community can't handle change of kojima leaving and Konami will think that MG is a non-profitable project. I never said it was a bad game, I said that it wont' make Konami money.

Maybe. Like I said though, MG isn't a super-popular franchise, it's kept afloat by it's fans, they're going to need a lot of advertising to make up for the losses they'll take from the MG community being stubborn, a lot more advertising than i've seen so far...

It's
A. The name of an *old* Gundam
B. A gag from GameGrumps based on the name of that Gundam
C. Something he says to seem random.
You get used to it. It's literally just him, it's not special to Metal Gear.

The Metal Gear franchise over it's ENTIRE LIFETIME has sold 49 million copies. Is it a lot from our perspective? Sure. 49 million metal gear games going back to the 2D sprites is a lot of sales. But I want you to also realize that the WII Sports franchise which has been around for MUCH longer and is universally accepted as not a game franchise really worth owning has sold 43 Million copies. Over 9 videogames over MANY consoles has only sold approximately 50 million copies. In the mind of a developer and of the public that's not very well-known, and you have to realize that the people who bought the 2D sprite Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2... the majority of them are dead or don't play anymore. It's not a "best-selling franchise" and doesn't sell well, it never has been, it's been part of a niche market since it's inception. Konami didn't even think a game where the goal is to avoid enemies - not kill them - would sell, they thought it would flop horribly.

Metal Gear Solid's about Big Boss or Solid Snake on a mission to save world, destroy ♥♥♥♥ and whatever else. Just because we see Boss in the first scene it doesn't mean it is Metal Gear Solid. Besides, Kojima did amazing job with all these MGS games and Konami's ungrateful enough to throw him out. That's just... a ♥♥♥♥ move.
