Why don't they give big boss a cybernetic eye?

Does his eyepatch act like a replacement for his missing eye? In the MGS universe they are capable of giving him a arm that can launch off like a rocket and there are giant nuclear robots. Would it make sense for that universe to be able to give him a new eyeball?

Because Kojima can't really make a good story, why ? Because this is a plot hole, I'll explain:

MGS5:TPP in the timeline happen before Metal gear 1 and 2 on MSX, it doesn't seem that in those games the technological capabilities Big Boss at hand was very high, because he had no robotic arm (If I remember right) nor some stuff that MGS5:TPP decided to bring (can say without spoiling).

What does it mean ? It mean that even if in Metal gear series you have giant robots with AI the MSX games wich are canon don't allow for a bionic eye (nor sonic eye), hence why in MGS:PW and MGS5 Big Boss still got one eye.

Well OP did ask a good question, MGS5:TPP does have a lot plot holes but it's true that it's pretty strange how a bionic arm that can be connected to nerves but no way to get an eye, I mean if you can't reconnect nerves in the eye or make a way to make a device that is connected to the brain to fonction as a second eye it's very weird in a world of giant robots with AI and bionic arms.

I just found something, Big Boss could have weared glasses with an integrated AI that expend his vision and would even work as the intel scope, yet it's impossible somehow ?

but sometimes the plot is not missing, sometimes that's how it is supposed to be. so saying that it is a 'plot hole' is wrong because that's how the plot is supposed to be.

That would have been true if TPP didn't have so many plot holes, why Big boss have a bionic arm and shards in TPP but not in the MSX version ? Why stop at the bionic arm when he could have a bionic eye or bionic glasses, heck with skulls unit and parasite suit I'll say he had a lot of ways to improve his vision.

those aren't plot holes. you are purposefully poking holes in the story for your own amusement. you can poke holes in any story, it isn't difficult to do. no story is foolproof.

The patch looks cool probably... it's a trademark of the series, don't put that much tought into that... at the end of the day many things can be considered design choices which in most cases are stronger than logic, canon, historical accuracy or basically common sense in the broad sense of the word.
