HOW do I START AS PHANTOM PAIN INSTEAD OF METAL GEAR ONLINE (cfg file edit)???

I know normally you can change it in the game menu but I made a mistake by ticking "start always as MGO" and not knowing that the game would always get stuck in the loading screen...I've looked into the settings from Steam gameslist but nothing; I've also searched in the steamapps folder but I cannot find any cfg file...plz help me

Ok so you go to this PC and type TPP_GRAPHICS_CONFIG on search local and file the other cfg files as well...now the problem is that they are written in JAPANESE...

I also tried to launch the game via the SnakeBite mod but still...am I screwed? Also, will deleting and downloading the game one more time solve the problem at least???

Try deleting the TPP_CONFIG_DATA1 file. When i set it to launch MGO that file gets written.

it's actually really simple, go in settings, choose game settings, there will be options to turn rapid off, put chicken hat on, and start the game as metal gear TPP or Online. Also i advice you to turn off rapid mode, it way too op ;)

Yessir I know but the problem is that the things you are talking about can be done only when the Story mode boots up whereas as soon as I boot the game it automatically starts MGO and then it crashes after 2 secs...I’m stuck in a dead loop so to speak that’s why I’m asking if someone is so kind to copy and paste the default settings of the cfg file (in japanese) here or something like that..

Right click on MGSV in steam library and uncheck "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN".

Go to \Steam\userdata\RandomNumbers\287700\local and delete "TPP_CONFIG_DATA0" and "TPP_CONFIG_DATA1".

Go to \Steam\userdata\RandomNumbers\311340\remote and delete "TPP_CONFIG_DATA".

Launch the game and configure your settings (most of them will be reset back to defaults after deleting config files).

Check "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN" back on.

I have the same issue! and i tried the same thing above and it did not change my startup at all, still stuck on MGO startup. Help please!

See screenshot at above link. That is the format in the English version of the game. I'm actually wondering what your last line says.

"project" : "tpp"

or does that say "project" : "mgo"

or is it written in some other language?

That may be what you need to change.

That's just a guess without actually comparing yours to mine.

1)turn off save backups
2)delete userdata
