METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

What's the difference..
.... between the regular METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN and the METAL GEAR SOLID V: The Definitive Experience ?

Both cost the same amount with or without sale, but The Definitive Experience has seemingly more stuff. Why?

The Definitive Experience has all the DLCs you wouldn't have if you bought the base MGSV. Same as GOTY editions of many other games.

It doesn't make any sense though. What's the point in buying the regular version if the Definitive one has more content, but costs the exact same whether it is on sale or not. I know about GOTY editions, but they are usually priced way higher than the base version.

I guess Konami is just lazy.
Definitive includes a DLC package that you cannot buy otherwise.

Get the big one and play Ground Zero first. It is the events leading up to Phantom Pain.

Actually, Definitive Experience is more expensive.

Not sure what you mean by costing the same, there's usually a $10 difference between the two; even with the current sale going on, the base game is $4.99 while Definitive Experience is $7.49. Unless your region has both cost exactly the same for some strange reason...

Anyhow, just pick up the Definitive Experience if you're interested in the game; it has more content to offer, including the prologue game Ground Zeroes and the Day One DLC that was only available on console releases.

Oh well, that explains things then.

Both versions cost 29.99€ without sale, and 7.49€ with sale on my Steam page. Both have 75% discount.

This will sound strange, but European Steam store has both base game and Definitive Experience at 29.99€, while US store has base game at 19.99$ and Definitive Experience at 29.99$.
Just some unfair regional pricing set by Konami, lol

Not strange at all. not everything is sold at the same price through 100 percent of the world.

Yep, forgot about that, just regional pricing at it's finest.
