Should I play MGS4 before PW, GZ, TPP or the other way around
1. Just finished playing MGS1, MGS2 and watching MGS3. I heard many people say that they wish MGS4 was their ending to the franchise, so I’m considering playing PW, GZ and TPP before watching 4. So is there any spoilery reference from those Big Boss’ games to 4? Should I play them before watching 4?

2. An unrelated question: for a game that taken itself quite seriously like MGS, there is just a lot of campy and silly elements (the supernatural Dead Cell and Cobras, the weird gun showoff that Ocelot did everytime he’s on screen in MGS3, the wtf unexplainable miracles that happened throughout 1 to 3,...). Was I missing something or it is supposed to be cheesy like that?

3. SPOILER ALERT FOR MGS3

In the end, EVA supposed to steal the Legacy and kill Snake, but she decided to abort the latter one. So why did Snake find another Legacy in his pocket?

Seriously, I appreciate MGS and its story, but it’s really conplex and convoluted, and I feel like not everything make sense. Nevertheless, still enjoy them so far

Ps: SPOILER ALERT FOR GZ/TPP
I already watched PW and played GZ along with TPP episode 1 and know that Cipher/Zero is planning to kill Big Boss. Other than that, I know nothing about the plot of MGS4 or TPP at all

In the actual timeline, MGS4 is the last one.

Yeah I knew that. I actually planned to watch 4 before playing GZ and TPP but some people say that 4 is the best final entry for the series

The timeline is really hard to grasp if you're not playing them in chronological order,

if you want a chronological experience that makes sense,
play in this order

MGS3
Portable Ops
Peace Walker
MGSV Ground Zeroes
MGSV The Phantom Pain
Metal Gear 1
Metal Gear 2
MGS1
MGS2
MGS4
Metal Gear RIsing Revengeance

Answer to 2. mgs4 explains most of those camp elements in the worst way possible.
answer to 1. no, there are no spoilers to any of the "solid" games in mgs5. But the ending of mgs4 is so weird and polerizing that mgs5 kinda stands in as kind of an apolagy for that game as a whole. when you play mgs 4, then mgs 5, mgs 4 gets an explination of why it's story was good. when you play mgs5, then mgs 4, you get an explination of how freakin good the gameplay was in mgs 5 (and how lackluster the story telling in the game is).

ALSO REMEMBER TO PLAY PEACE WALKER, BECAUSE ONE OF THE PLOT TWISTS RELY'S ON YOU GIVING A ♥♥♥♥ ABOUT THE CHARACTERS IN THAT GAME.

wait you've played tpp episode 1? thats basicly the whole plot of the story, the second half mostly goes about tearing apart that plot and breaking down the player. expect for some of your buddies to go missing.
