It has the classic rule where if a guard catches you moving in it, the first time he radios in, CP will tell him to stand down, then if he catches you again, he'll be permitted to fire, and as long as the box doesn't break and you don't die, the guard will again stand down, and you can get away with doing it a lot as long as you take good care of your box and yourself.
The best use I can think of for a box for stealth, would be to remain inconspicuous while in an indoor environment, while a guard passes through the room while on low alert. Or any other situation where you just need to remain hidden while a guard moves unaware of your presence.
Smoke box, is for players who still use the box, after being caught, when an area is being cleared, multiple will get caught in the cloud when investigating the box. And I would recommend using the crawling box variants of posters for luring guards since you can abandon the box with dive and use it like a magazine, to approach guards from any angle you like.
Although sometimes guards won't stop exactly at in front of you. If that's the case, just do the chain reaction CQC as long as there are only 2 guards. More than that, you'll most likely raise alarm before able to put them all down.
