METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Why is MGSV full of cheaters?
Playing the PF grade I notice that more than half of my opponents have hardly any development, but literally millions of vehicles.
Every now and then I get tired of looking at those ridiculous stats and report a dozen players. Steam doesn't seem to care.

Great game broken by hackers and indifferent Steam.

Cheater vs cheater

Damn shame. The way I see those stats, half play the honest grind, and half hack the game.

So easy for Steam to clean the mess up. What's the point in vs if cheating is allowed?

It's not half. Not even near half. I would say a good 80% have hacked vehicles and weapons.

On any given week there's maybe 4 that haven't cheated.

On the other side of that, I don't really care so much about PF battles. It's not real battles like FOB or MGO. The cheaters actually help the scores on the top side of it which results in much higher PF points earned than would have had previously, so it actually works out in my favor to be cheater heavy at the higher levels. Don't really care otherwise.

FOB cheaters, now that's worth reporting. Record video, upload to youtube and report with link to vid.

Because that's the MGS community, when you ask someone why they cheat they answer you with "Metal gear solid is a solo game so no one care if I cheat" and then they discover FOB...... but they won't care about it so they will continue cheating, hence why the MGS community is garbage and that's the reason why MGS5:TPP is in such a poor state online.

But the thing is, I get that a lot of people cheat. But when it's so blatantly obvious for anyone with half a brain stem, why doesn't Steam just boot the mothers? PF grade (and FOBs - yeah, they're a mess too) could actually be the great online meta game it was intended to be if only Steam kicked out the obvious cheaters.

Steam is not responsible for what people do in games. It's not Steam's game, they're just the medium of distribution. The only exception to that are games that the author chooses to implement Steam's ban system, which Konami did not, so it's up to Konami to handle cheaters as they wish.

You should report cheaters directly to Konami here....

Thanks for this.

But as long as Steam has a "report cheating in a game" function, I'll use that too. Otherwise, why is it there?
dprog1995 Jan 13, 2019 @ 3:44am
I think that's because Konami doesn't have the budget and power of Rockstar to ban cheaters.

It's there for those that have implemented some form of Steam's ban system. Steam has absolutely ZERO control over MGSV. You can report it there, but there is nothing Steam can do about it.
Typically, the burden of dealing with cheaters lies with the developers and not Steam, and Konami could give less of a ♥♥♥♥ about this so that's why the cheaters are barely dealt with.

Many people will see the landscape of the MGO community and think "Oh it's much easier to get away with cheating, no point in not doing it", so it's not that the MGO community is filled with cheaters, but it attracts them.

There was a period in TABG where there was no anticheat and you could run scripts on the game easily. About 50% of the people were just there to cheat a free battle-royale to feel stronk or wahtever, but another 20-30% had an 'emergency stash' of cheats they activated as soon as they halfway suspected you of using them. And on the whole they were noobs, so anyone actually better than them was 'obviously' hacking.

As soon as a few people start cheating it turns into an avalanche of cheetz and paranoia.

Damn shame I tell you. Great game hindered by mismanagement.

This reminds me of playing Netstorm: Islands at War back in the 90's. If you're going to play that game. play it SP or Local LAN only. Play on the server and they have pre-made scripts to construct WAY WAY faster than is humanly possible to do with KB&M. It's ridiculous. I played online only a few times because playing with 7 cheats and you're the only one not cheating is no fun, but EVERYONE was using scripts.
i cheat, but i have zero interest in the online portions of V. i always refuse to connect when prompted.
V is a fantastic game from a single player standpoint. and modding helps make it better.
those who cheat and go online: shame on you.
