Free roam?

I have seen other players talk about "free roam"...can you go from the helicopter to free roam? I only can go to missions and side-ops.

Functionally Free Roam and Side Ops are the exact same thing. The only difference is Side Ops is showing you what Side Ops are available as a list in this particular Free Roam session. Free Roam just shows the Side Ops available as Blue Circles. Going in through Free Roam will still have all those Side Ops available. Also, you can select any landing zone across the entire map no matter what Side Op you have selected and you don't actually have to do the Side Op you have selected. Free Roam or Side Ops, they're the same thing.

To actually view "Free Roam" .....

Open IDroid
Goto Missions Tab
Goto Mission List
Press 3 one time
Select which MAP you would like to enter Free Roam
Select Landing Zone
