How horrid of a port.
Why anyone would want to mess around with the audio settings in a game like this is beyond me.
have to say you 'multiple VAC bans' is pretty impressive, how did you manage that lol?
No, it's not the only way. I just reach up to my volume control knob and turn it down by hand.
While prefer to just turn down the volume via my headphone control
Maybe I want to increase the volume of those sound clues, or change volume of voices, or change the music volume, or ambient sounds? They could have implemented a "reset to recommended settings" option and there wouldn't be any problem. After all, we are talking about an option. No one would need to change anything, if they didn't want to risk to mess things up.
Also the game encourages to approach certain missions differently, considering the vast amount of weapons. I don't need to stealth everything. In "Back Up, Back Down" there's no reason for
avoiding confrontation and listening carefully to soldier footsteps or cameras. You can do it, but the game even recommends to use missile weapons for the mission in the mission list menu, which isn't really effective if you want to avoid to get spotted.
But in a movie you can adjust the volume of any sound throughout the whole film, knowing the viewer will hear everything this way exactly. Games are interactive, the only things that are consistently the same for every player, are scripted events and cutscenes. It would be nice to have the option to enjoy the music better or to have the helicopter be more quiet, especially when you're in the ACC.
And nonetheless, wanting the game to have a "movie vibe" is no excuse for not at least having a master volume option included.
If I had headphones, that would probably be my preferred method too. I only have speakers, but it's really the same thing either way. The only problem is that cheap headphones don't have their own volume control and then you have to do the Windows method which doesn't always lower it enough to not break your ear drums.
