METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Kojima Ruined MGS
I know this is not going to be a popular opinion, but having played MGSV: TPP for many hours now, I have determined the following:

The story is asinine.

The first game I played was Metal Gear Solid and I was i think 10 or 11. I thought it was the greatest game in the world. I actually did not have the game for some time and had to play the demo over and over and it was just awesome. When I go back and think about it, the story is pretty out there, but not too bad. Then came MGS II and holy smokes it was really out there.

THIS GAME... the gameplay is awesome, the main character is aweosme, the smallest details are awesome, voice acting awesome, cut scenes awesome... but the story is HORRENDOUS.

If i could get Metal Gear without the stupid farfetched stuff, I would love it now that I have matured (I like to believe) since I first became exposed to the series at 10 or 11.

Oh and that last mission where you have to save Quiet can FK OFF. You play hours and hours as a stealth character then all of the sudden you have to be a freaking ultra Rambo. WTF.

It is a good story the problem is that so much was cut out that it feels way too light for a MGS game

your opinion is actually a popular one...

most people do think that the game is unfinished and the story is weak...

Smells like a bait shop in here.

They made Ocelot look and sound like a badass, but he doesn't actually do anything badass in the whole game, and he did in every other game before then. Like when he turns on Volgin and starts shooting lightning out with bullets. Come to think of it, Ocelot should've had a higher awareness of who the Burned Man was, I suspected it, and I'm not a triple agent.
And Solidus, an Ex American President that just goes ahead and takes out several Metal Gear Rays with swords, boy that was an awesome scene.
Lack of David Hayter was disappointing. He is one of the most definitive voices next to Geralt Of Rivia.
Young Liquid could've had a bigger role.
Huey is ♥♥♥♥ and they should've added a mission where you torture him, like in GTA V.

No baiting here. I guess in short, in my personal opinion, I wished MGS had a more mature tone without the over-the-top cyborg supernatural alien prometheus draw. I like Big Boss, Ocelot and most of the characters MINUS MILLER and EMMERICH.

Oh and Quiet's outfit? What is this, Hot Topic Halloween dress up night? Come on. The reasoning to skimpify her outfit is just ridiculous.

I gotta agree with the Quiet part, the Japanese seem to be incapable of making a game without stupid, skimpy oversexed women. It has no interest to me at all, I don't wanna feel horny when playing video games, I got porn for that.

And I just had to redo A Quiet's Exit again to get the S Rank. FK-ing HATE that mission. NO stealth, no metal gear, just running around shooting tanks like Rambo. What FKs me off the most about it is the sheer amount of times that I died, because the tanks have pinpoint lock on aim on you specifically before they even appear on the horizon. As do the soldiers with the 1 mile range shotguns. But I drove all the vehicles the enemies drive, they're terrible and usually get blown up by a group of 5 soldiers holding grade 1 SVG. What's with the double standards? Worst mission next to Mission 1 & 46. Total cop out having to do that hospital sh*t twice, pressing the skip cutscene button about 40 times in a row. They should've cut ALL of the repeat missions, and simply added an extreme, total stealth & subsistence mode to every normal mission afterwards for extra reward. All the repeat missions just happen to be the worst missions in the game, back up, back down, traitor's caravan, skull's airport mission, code talker, quiet sniper mission - literally did not want to replay any of these. The best missions are the starting few in Afghanistan

I'm sorry you guys can't handle skimpily-dressed women. Some people just can't appreciate women's beauty. If anything, Quiet should've been more nude to absorb the maximum amount of sunlight and water.

I agree with you about Ocelot, though. He really should've done something cool in the game. A decent portion of story-related content seems to be missing compared to other Metal Gear's.

It's always been a Military / Anime theme mix though, the storylines are always something wild and some characters seem to be taken right out of a japanese cartoon

Eh, the only thing I feel was missing was the boss battles. The closest we really get to a standard MGS boss fight is the side-op with the Legendary Bear.

I think the story was alright just not enough, i wish there was more to go on which would have filled the events that lead from MGS3 to MGS. My other complain would be that there is barely any codec dialogue, it was mostly just repeated information on a target. Having to experience a ton of conversations between the characters on the MG universe was what i enjoyed a lot in the series.

its supposed to be thought of in the sense of an action comic book. trust me. if you READ comic books, like the recent movie adaption LOGAN, the comic book is INSANELY DUMB. Logan has to fight Hulk and the Hulkgang. didnt make it to a movie. I agree the story has some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ science fiction, but TO ME it doesnt make the story suck. Fantasy and Fiction is FUN if youre not too serious of a person. lighten up.

I was just thinking that. The only replay mission I like, personally, is C2W, the substinence one. Other than that, its all missions that i do not even care about going back for an S rank or missioning side objectives. I think the game had real cool Afghanistan missions. A Hero's Way is just awesome.

This guy nailed it in one. Konami/Kojima could've done a bit better

Your giving Kojima way too much credit. His stupid ideas are to blame for most of MGSV's problems. Konami is a bad company, but they approved several delays and gave him the biggest budget of almost any Japanese game ever. Another hundred million dollars and six months wouldn't have made the game great. I've lost respect for Kojima with MGS4, Peace Walker and V.
