Venom Snake Question *SPOILERS*

Can someone explain how, if venom snake isn’t really big boss, how does he interact with every character in the game as though he has the memories of big boss? For example, in one cassette tape, he’s talking with Kaz about Cipher and Zero. Would that medic really know this stuff?

After the events of Ground Zeroes, the survivors of the helicopter crash are moved to a hospital in Cyprus, Greece. Zero aka Cipher (informally known in the Metal Gear Solid Universe as a global intelligence agency & world power broker) has 'safe-zones' all over the world. The hospital is one of those safe-zones.

According to the tapes, Zero has the surviving medic undergo 'hypnagogia' while Big Boss is in a coma to create a 'phantom' or 'mind-clone' of Big Boss. Remember that Zero previously had developed the 'Les Enfants Terribles' project where he cloned an unwitting & unwilling Big Boss. The clones are known as 'Solid' & 'Liquid.' Big Boss didn't like this so he split off from Zero and started MSF. According to the tapes, Zero is remorseful and regrets having a break-up with his friend Naked Snake, so he decides to create this 'phantom' Big Boss to protect his friend. Venom is supposed to fool the world, and take the scrutiny away from Naked Snake.

Zero enlists Ocelot (supposedly a master at hypnosis) and begins the project of creating the phantom Big Boss through 'hypnagogia.' 'Hypnagogia' is a state of wakeful sleep like lucid dreaming where a person is in the liminal zone between wakefulness and sleep. In this state, people are highly susceptible to suggestion and influence. This is how Venom 'experienced' all of Big Boss's memories, missions and tactics.

Everything Naked Snake knew of his life, or more precisely, everything the 'player' knows about Naked Snake (Big Boss) is transferred to Venom via this 'hypnagogic' state while he is in the Cyprus hospital. The phantom not only has Big Boss's memories, but also believes that he is actually Big Boss. That's how Venom knows about Cipher, Kaz, etc...

Also, before Venom gets Miller back, Ocelot is bringing Venom up to date with all of affairs. And the rest is, like previous commenters already wrote, a matter of hypnotherapy Venom underwent on Cyprus.

lol. The story is really ridiculous sometimes.(Not saying that I could write a better storyline. but still this twist was really unnecessary.)

if you pay attention to how wolbachia works there's no way anyone with parasite therapy could harbor transmittable vocal chord parasites or suffer any serious symptoms. Their existing 'parasites,' or symbiotes to be exact, would eat it alive and/or deactivate it until the host died and the symbiotic system broke down. Though they might suffer more in their old age, as the buildup of 'covered' parasites grows like scar tissue.

it's the low-tech version of Old Snake's FOXDIE plague, which is only kept in check by the nanomachines which interface between his brain and his other nanomachines, thus why the psyche bar is a mechanic.

it makes the Quiet twist sound reasonable and justified by comparison, and that's why it was done.

On a related side note, if any random medic can become big boss, what the hell was the point of les enfant terribles? Wasn’t the point of that to create another super soldier because big boss was such an amazing soldier? But suddenly venom snake can just become seemingly as good as big boss?

medic had the same training as big boss, and LET was mainly giving the soldiers hyper abilities such as extremely quick reaction times and responses hence why liquid is so powerful even at his young age, whereas venom gets bitten by a snake and falls unconscious

There was no point in Les Enfants Terrible. Zero was obsessed with control and wanted back-up Naked Snakes if Naked ended up catching a bullet. After learning what Zero did, since Big Boss was unaware that Zero had cloned him, Big Boss was disgusted by Zero's deed and left the Patriots to start his own group called MSF.

I guess the point was to *save* Naked Snake's genetic material, but the whole project was somewhat 'disproven' by Venom Snake, since he arguably became every bit as 'good' a soldier as Naked Snake.
