Is it worth buying the MB Coin Steam pack?

I just bought the game, primarily for Single Player, because it was dirt cheap on sale as the Definitive Edition. But it's missing the "single purchase 2000 MB Coins" item, which I've read is needed to upgrade content you can use in the campaign, and I'm not sure whether to bother.

On one hand, microtransactions are evil, and I'm not into PVP.

On the other hand, the game is so old I'm not sure the "free coin" events will still be active and winnable by the time I even unlock online, or if it's even possible to trickle-income all the way to those FOBs with freebies before the servers die.

Is it really entirely pointless to spend on coins for FOBs for single player, as some people have claimed?

If you are going to play FOB, then yes. It will enable you to get all 4 FOB's the fastest. Otherwise it will take you a LONG TIME to earn enough MB coins to buy the 2nd, 3rd and 4th FOB.

FOB is the ONLY reason to even consider it. If you don't care about FOB, then don't buy MB coins. I wouldn't spend MB coins on anything except for more FOB waters.

Otherwise, you earn MB coins over time as long as you go in-game every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, you'll earn MB coins and over time enough to do things with, but I wouldn't use them on anything else unless you have 4 FOBs, which will take every bit of that 2000 MB coin pack plus a little you earn yourself.

There are people who didn't buy them and get them the long way around, but it's the difference of having 4 fully developed FOB's in 2 months or 6 months.

You need it because the online is heavily pay to win (FOB), you want to devellop an OP item that save you from death but waiting 6 days is long ? Use MB coins to instantly devellop it ! You want to devellop a swimsuit wich is mostly just for show ? Pay or wait 6 days ! :D

You get attacked by the same player for some reason when the online is not very active and when you defend the invader as grade 11 gears while you have grade 5 gears on you and he just destroy you ? Then don't worry futur phantom pain wallet owner you can use MB coins to get a refund on every damage done to your base except nukes, afraid to be attacked because you'll be offline for a week ? Then for like 5$ in MB coins you can sleep at night without worrying about that chinesse player stealing all your boys and girls.

So yeah MB coins are important since the FOB parts have mobile payment systems.

If you want to expand Mother Base + FOB ASAP, then you'll need 1200 max MP coins. Should be around €10+ or so. Waiting for FOB 3 / 4 will take a lot of time.

I've done this too, but ONLY after purchasing all 4 FOB waters. The more FOB waters you have, the more staff you're capable of housing and thus the higher levels your units are capable of going.

I wouldn't use MB coins on anything else until all 4 FOB waters have been purchased.

Most of these replies seem like PVP-centric replies... I care about enhancing single player for the most part, so I'm not sure the point got across.

FOB is PVP-centric, so when discussing FOB you have to talk about the PVP aspect.

You very well could play Event FOB only and never any other and you could just earn the rewards from FOB Events, then you don't have to worry about PVP, but you'll find upgrading will be very slow going. To really speed things along, you need to get to attacking the medium to higher level bases. Once you start attacking others, there is always a risk that someone will come in to defend. Granted you can attack 100 bases to 1 defender these days and the resources you get will be greater than anything you can get in the field. You will have to deal with a defender from time to time though. Just as you will have to deal with an infiltrator from time to time. That is the nature of the game.

Just for singleplayer? No, not it's not necessary or worth it at all. I didn't even know it was a thing, and I've been replaying the campaign on and off since release
