If you are into shooters and you've played games with stealth mechanics before its pretty easy.
It's the much needed prologue. After you're done, move on to MGSV The Phantom Pain.
It's a alternate-history, sci-fi TPP stealth-action game that can be also played as shooter (but in case of Ground Zeroes it's not exactly great that way - TPP is much better in this aspect), with a bit of base management metagame (you build up your own organization) with a bit of paranormal stuff. It's great and even my pals who hate the paranormal and sci-fi stuff liked the game.
It's hard to describe, it's third-person stealth shooter with openworld (it's not really set-up like any other openworld game thou)
But all the gameplay mechanics man...never played anything like this. It's one of the kind game.
Play Ground Zeroes first for sure! And be sure that you listen to all the cassette tapes otherwise you will have no idea what the hell you even doing.
Actually this time Japanese nonsense wierd fantasy isn't that .. disturbing.
The problem with statements like this is that it doesn't allow for any variation from the developer whatsoever. The statement is more of an..... I expect it to be this way, so I'm disappointed that it's not my way.
The OP has never played any Metal Gear game, so this is as good of a Metal Gear game as any of them.
Seriously, if we're going to base being "a real game" based on something changing so much that you don't like it, then not of the Metal Gear Solid games are "real Metal Gear games". Real Metal Gear games were 2D.
Reality is that this is just as much of a Metal Gear game as any of the others. The only real difference being that MGSV allows for a lot more freedom of movement and the maps are SO HUGE that 2 maps are more than sufficient to spend hundreds of hours in.
