Do I need to beat ALL Missions to get to the Chapter 2 Final Mission & ending?

Some of these Chapter 2 Challenge versions of previous story missions appear to be rather too hardcore for me. Like the Quiet mission - she one-shots me in a split second. I guess maybe I could even the odds if I go with the invis stealth item / parasite suit / air support / whatnot combination, but really I just wanna go on and get the ending. Call me a casual, I don't care.

So, do I need to beat all of these missions to get the story ending, or are the gold dotted ones enough?

I can't put the game into my "Finished" list then (which just means finished the story, not 100%d obviously).

So are you saying that completing all the Chap 2 Challenge missions is necessary for the Chap 2 final mission to unlock?

This game is unfinished so it's theoretically impossible to finish this game. xD

Edit: well, got her by using a googled suggestions to just literally Tank her shots. Still would like an answer to my question tho.

Ignore that thing. It has never finished the game. It just sticks around to troll.

You do not have to finish every mission. you do need to do the missions not marked as a special or repeat mission.

There may, however, be SideOps that need to be completed before the one you're looking for is unlocked, so keep on trucking doing all of the SideOps.

Thanks for the info on the SideOps, I had thought the special ones were unlocked by missions and other special side ops, not non-special side ops.

I'm confused at what you mean by "you do need to do the missions not marked as a special or repeat mission" if you just said I don't have to finish every mission. Was there a typo, or am I just not understanding something?

Sorry, I may have mistyped that since I'm watching a TV show right now too.

I mean you do not have to do the missions marked as Subsistence, Extreme, Total Stealth, Etc. They're still fun to do as something extra, but not required to complete the storyline missions.
