METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Why do people like this?
I've played this game a bit, played a couple of missions, but it just plays like Splinter Cell: Blacklist to me... where is the metal gear charm? Should I just keep playing? Will it get better? I was so dissapointed with this game that I only played it for couple of hours max, and then I forgot about it. Seeing it has shuch great reviews on Steam, I was thinking I maybe didn't give it enough playtime. Should I give it another try?

I think the basic mechanics of the game are fun. Unlocking, upgrading and customizing gear, companions, mother-base etc kept me fairly engaged throughout the story & side-missions. You're pretty much free to approach missions however you want, leading to some pretty wacky or awesome ♥♥♥♥ going down. The story is quite absurd and fun as well, though in general I felt the game drag a bit near the end.

There's a chance you didn't give the game enough of a shot to open up for you. However if you're chasing some distinct Metal Gear feeling, you might not find it here.

For me, gameplay is really polished and well done, gives lots of freedom and is fun.

If you are looking for the MG mojo... hard to find here. Better play the older games where the plot/bizzarness(Kojima's personal touch)/gameplay/fun balance is more present.

Other thing, don't go for the meta items (golden) to use on online FOB's the grind for those is like free mmorpg grind... eternal

I am not a MG fan or anything. Not much of lore I know so gameplay wise, I think what makes MGSV so special is that the game nailed it the open world looks alive and you can completely blend in it while you are on a mission or not. That experience was a blast for me as a stealth gamer.

Comparing this great game to Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Anyway, do what you like you're not forced to play for 3k hours like I did, you have your own brain.

Inb4 trolls.

I'll say if you have played Blacklist and liked it there is no point in playing MGS5:TPP, especially since the online is pretty dead. If you bought the game like 3 month max after release you would have enjoyed a good online experience but now........

Now some people don't like TPP because it got denuvo and some people with a VAC ban don't really like online since for the most part they cheat in this game, because the game as no real anti cheat, but hey if you bought MGS5:DE wich include everything for 20$ be happy because MGS5:GZ at launch (wich is a 2 hour game) costed 35$ and TPP 60$, then skins costed 1$ each and you have the 7$ MGO stuff, so you saved liked around 80$ just for these, you also have the 2000 MB coins and console exclusive stuff, but it costed you a poor online experience, not a problem if you don't care about that tho.

If you go past mission 22 you'll unlock the main core of the game wich is what people have played over 1000 hours in it (because the singleplayer is pretty bad here), overall Splinter Cell: Blacklist is a better game compared to TPP Single player.

I guess you are living in some kind of parallel universe if you think that Splinter Cell Blacklist is a better game than MGSV.
Every critic has given better scores to MGSV,for example metacritic scores 93 to MGSV and 82 for Splinter Cell Blacklist.

Agree, Blacklist is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and has nothing in common with mgsv, except for genre, although stealth mechanics are different, and yeah mgsv is better(imo)

Metacritic gave Death stranding a 83.

I wonder, we are on MGS5:TPP forum and you say TPP is the best, sounds like you are biased right from the start. Anyway if you don't like "my personnal opinion" why even be mad about it ? And most importantly why even reply to me when you have nothing interesting to say ?

Don't answer I already know especially since you decided to avoid 70% of my comment :3

EDIT: Oh I also checked your group:

- Metal Gear Solid Fan Club

- Hentai!

So that explain even more XD

You cannot dictate to me how I will answer to your post.Death Stranding is irrelevant. We are on the MGSV forum and I didn't say that it is the best, but it is better than Splinter Cell Blacklist and everyone certified to review and evaluate says so,like Metacritic. If that is your opinion, you should state that like typing 'imo' and that opinion is biased and it is your right to do so but you do it for your personal reasons and lose objectivity.
As for the groups I don't see how this is relevant to our subject,if you could explain it would be appreciated.

From what I have played, the game is actually really similar to Splinter Cell Blacklist, it actually felt like they took some ideas/inspiration from Splinter cell Blacklist. Thanks for the comments though, I re-downloaded it and I'm going to give it another try.

Its poor judgement... The only conclusion from metacritic score that DS is worse than mgsv(93 vs 86) BUT still better than ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Blacklist (82).

So, what was the point??(maybe Bourne said that DS is better then mgsv, and then you kinda screw him with this argument, but meantime its just looks like you hate Kojima nomatter what he did, so basically, you are here the one who biased)

I think no similarities in those. Graphics are better in mgsv, controls much more interesting in mgsv, mgsv has more options, its actually has more advanced stealth, better music BUT:
1)Its a very poor plot game if you didnt play previous mgs games, although its independent game a lot in it depends on what you know about the lore.
2)if you find blacklist a good game, then you wont like mgsv, cause its more complicated in many ways(controls, mechanics) Blacklist is about fast neutralisations, while mgsv is slower on that aspect.(such shame they changed voice actor and made Sam young again, such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ move)
