They offer bonuses to camouflage depending on the terrain. Sneaking Suit muffles your footsteps and Battle Dress gives you better armor, but neither provide added camouflage in the field.

I use camo all the time.
Back on FOB when I couldn't use sneaking suit I used urban.
But most of the time, camo is good for single-player, side-ops, missions.
It's good in MGO if you're smart too (Though most suits aren't for camo I believe)
If you think about deploying to Afghanistan with a dead-black blue sneaking suit, it better be an urban place, because if you're out in the open, desert camo is your best bet.
Africa falls under a lot of camos, it depends on the area though.
I used to think that I had to only use the Sneaking Suit, but when I changed to camo, the game got more challenging, fun and realistic.
You should try it, it's fun!
I'd only suggest camos for single-player.
The only time I'd suggest the sneaking suit is in an Urban Area, building infiltration, close quarters, or FOB. FOB being the most common.
Of course, camos are just used for hiding, and blending in. Sneaking Suit is a little crusty but it becomes way too OP after a few upgrades and it just feels unfun.
With camos, you feel like a real soldier in a realistic situation.
If you still want to use the sneaking suit statistic-wise, go ahead, but I won't judge.
Im just saying camos add a challenge and are more useful approach in single-player. You won't be running around fultoning everything and knocking everybody out with sneaking suit.
Just my opinion
If you still decided to bring a camo when they have Night Vision, you'd have to stay father away.
But, yes, you can use square or urban early FOB-game and you'll do good, even if they have NVGs, but imo. It's beaten by Sneaking Suit.
Otherwise, FOB camo fatigues is the best way to infiltrate. You really don't need the 'silent footsteps' or the extra armor (even in high level FOBs) because you can equip cardboard box for protection. Remember that the best protection is being undetectable. FOB camo fatigues decrease the enemy soldier's sight lines to a greater degree than the other outfits.
And you can mix & match FOB fatigues too! I like Desert Sand, Mud, and Red Rust.
I really didn't know that. I collected all camos- but I guess I haven't really *tried* to do an FOB with camo.
I mean. I have- it's just, I didn't know it was better than sneaking suit depending on if you assume a defender will be present or not.
And I like Desert Sand too! I haven't used other camos before, like Pure Blue or colored ones.
Although I've seen people use a light green neon
The light green neon is either called 'Tselinoyarsk' which is the name of the Russian base Naked Snake infiltrates in MGS3 or 'Camouflage Green.' 'Camouflage Green' and its counterpart 'Camouflage Yellow' match Base Color 003 which looks like your FOB is made of legos.
FOB camo is always the best choice for infiltration since the best infiltration (unless you want to fight a Defender) is a unseen one.
