METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Starting Mission Is Just Painful.
Seriously this opening mission tutorial thing is seriously making me consider not playing the rest of the game. It's long, boring, weird paranormal crap, and we get it, they bad guys are evil, and highly incompitent. Please tell me it gets more nuanced and cuts out the stupid ghost stuff?

That's so helpful, thank you for being useless.

I personally loved the intro to the point where i think its currently the best intro in gaming history, i can understand how replaying it alot would get boring

Remember that Metal Gear is part of a series and you may not know the backstory by just jumping into it

Keep it up, i loved MGSV

I know the vague backstory, but I don't see what that has to do with the hospital -mission- being boring. Every up until I had to start crawling around by holding w was interesting.

If you dont know the story that well, theres a site called Metal Gear Timeline. It's really good if you don't intend to play other games.
starting with mgs 5, the 8th canon game (weird i know) is going to be rough. it's an incredibly story dense series that genrally assume you played the earlier titles. it also sounds like you didnt play ground zeros; wasnt it included?
i would reccomend you play or at least watch mgs 3 and peace walker if you want to be able to follow. You wont get some of the "foreshadowing" like the floating boy or Hal but you won't be lost. as counterintuitive as it sounds the in series chronolgy is mgs3>mg:pw>mgs5 ground zeroes(it's the prolouge for phantom pain and you should hav it)>mgs5:pp>metal gear 1>mg2(both original metal gears are bundled with mgs3 and recaped in mgs1)>mgs1>mgs2>mgs4. on the off chance you actually want to play all these i would reccomend leaving 4 for last it really feels the most like a conclusion.

Don't play Final Fantasy 7 ( or any RPG that is story-focused) if your attention span is that limited.

I wholeheartedly agree! I said as such to my son when I only played the game for 1 day and told him I could easily play the game for a year. 2 years and 3800 hours in game later. I still think it's the best intro in gaming EVER!

You see those games are actually interesting, where I do things, not hold w to give me some false impression that I'm playing a game.

If that's really what you're so up in arms about then you haven't gotten into the meat of this game whatsoever. The whole intro is more of a play-along cutscene tutorial than actually playing. I thought it was one of the most seemless tutorials I've ever played. You barely recognize that you're being taught how to play. Unless it's you, then you're worried about having to hold "W", which isn't really much of anything to worry about at all. Just get through it and there's nothing like it the rest of the game. Still the best opening sequence to any game ever made.

No, Japanese RPG have probably hours of just "pressing a button to keep the text scrolling."

True but conversation is interesting, crawling slowly as heck around and seeing the commically evil and incompitent villains shooting people. The drama is ruined by the mustache twirling evil, plot device ghosts, and just general incompitence of the people trying to find you.

Heh, even if I did like it (which I don't) it'd be very hard to argue that it's objectively the best opening sequence.

An intro video is interseting. The actual intro was. The tutorial level was horrendous and unskippable.

Oh, and ghost stuff is stupid. Isn't tihs supposed to be a military/spy game?

You must not have played the Metal Gear Series. What you're describing sounds par for the course.

proably an ubisfot cucklet used to story dry games, next question is where to buy new skins
