didnt try, i dont know if there is any check to see if the login is yours.
i think yes you can, but i dont know for sure
yes, but if you want to play a clean save from the beginning, you are pretty much screwed since you have to delete your save to do that
thats the point, it dosnt work like this
Oh and the folder you have to back up and restore is 311340, not 287700.
I've done this three times already.
ok so i gonna copy and paste what i said here on the original post:
---
most people says, "just put back the files, and you are good to go", and did not work at all...
so i made a guide that might help people like me who had to do some more for the backup to work
---
thats the point, i did this, and the game just keep erasing all my data, even if i backup the 311340, the game still did not go with the backup.
i will try to explain how this works.
when the game loads, it will try to load the 311340 save. it will check, and if detects (sometimes it does sometimes it dosnt), that the save in 311340 is not yours, it will pick the backup the game made itself, on 287700.
this is true the same when you completely deletes the 311340 folder, i will get and backup from the 287700 folder or the cloud.
when there is not a save in 311340 neither from 287700 it will get from the cloud. if not even cloud is present, it will get with a clean save from the beginning.
for some people, just placing 311340 backup, you are good to go, but for some others, like me, this dosnt work, he keeps getting the save from 287700 (with or without the cloud).
so, if you save the 287700 files, you get your save file, and this method works for everyone, even for those like me who did try the 311340 folder and didnt work.
got ti?
Apparently there are two things with this. 1. You actually don't know a lot of information and thus do things in a way that might work, but actually causes more work than is needed and 2. You've never actually read any of my posts on the subject.
Real deal. There's only 2 things you need to concern yourself. One of the save files (and it doesn't matter which one) and Cloud Share (either turned on or turned off).
The save files can be in one of two places.
<Steam Path>\userdata\<32BitUserID>\287700\local\TPP_GAME_DATA1
or
<Steam Path>\userdata\<32BitUserID>\311340\remote\TPP_GAME_DATA
These are both the exact same file despite being different filenames and locations. You only need one of them. As long as one of the two files are backed up, you have a backup. You don't need anything else. There is nothing else in either folder related to the actual save file, so nothing else is needed.
The easy way to restore is to restore the same file to both locations, be sure Cloud Save is turned off or else the first time you go in, it will restore the cloud save instead. With cloud Save off, load the game and play to reach a checkpoint. Then you can turn cloud save back on and the game will recognize the existing save as the newest and back it up to the cloud.
The only other thing you may want to know and just for better understanding is when the two different save files are used.
Every time you hit a checkpoint (or autosave) the system rewrites out both files and yes, they are both exactly the same. That is assuming that one has both TPP and GZ installed. Explaining the differences can start to get confusing because there's a bunch of if's & and's to it. But plain and simply, if you have both GZ and TPP, then if you're playing offline, it loads the file located in the 287700\local\ directory. If you're playing online it loads the 311340\remote\ file.
However, if you do not have GZ installed, it will then use the one in 287700\local\ whether you're playing offline or online. However, since both files are exactly the same, it really doesn't matter which one it loads at all which is why the quickest way is to backup one of them, but restore to both locations.
This has been tried and tested on multiple systems. I actually have a script I run that does the backup automatically before launching the game with a separate restore script should I ever need to restore a previous save.
Sorry to bust your bubble, but this guide is being WAY over-complicated for what is actually needed.

PS. Misa, yes, you can use any save file you can get your hands on. It's been done many times over, except you're not allowed to. Other people can, but you, Misa and only Misa aren't allowed to. You must uninstall the game, leave the forum and never return because, well you should know by now, you live with yourself you materialistic gold digging b!+ch.
i answer there too, but anyway.
what heppened to me, i had to do both everytime i did overwriting in 311340 or 287700, didnt work, had to do both to work. like i said before, maybe im overlooking something, but, i consistently tryed both without internet connection, and didnt work. maybe its about overwriting the files from the "local" folder.
either way, reagardless if you are using along with GZ or TPP only, i think the guide make sense and works for everyone, the ones who didn get with the 311340, this guide can work in that cases, and other cases too. its kind of fail proof on this
