METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Real Life Big Boss Sneaking Suit
So this is not necessarily a gameplay post as much as it is talking about the real life mechanics of the sneaking suit.

Traditionally, the US Department of Defense really doesn't outfit soldiers with the latest gear. By comparison FBI SWAT team usually gets far better, state of the art gear and they just throw soldiers out there with a vest and rifle. Garbage, I know. I lived it...

Anyway, I found a website, you can look it up yourself called "Demon Mountain Bike Armor." It has impact-resistant armor very similar to the sneaking suit of Phantom Pain Venom Snake first gets right about the time you develop it before going to Africa.

I figured mountain bike armor might be the closest thing to what he has as their brand offers spine pad support, can shield you from heavy blows, and then you could just mod it to have a ballistic plate carrier, maybe with AR-500 body armor class-IV or class-V plates underneath, then get Underarmor Tactical black boots for the boots as well as their shooting gloves.

Of course if you carried this with a combat knife and pistol it would already be pretty heavy to run with , if you carried a full 300 round ammo vest plus rifle it would weigh a lot... you'd have to be in really good shape.

I'm thinking of cosplaying in a fully-functional sneaking suit to cosplay Venom Snake but given the cost of this all it would altogether be in the 1500 dollar range.

Does anyone have any opinions or maybe even a website you could actually buy a full on stealth suit like this?

The only official merchandising I remember that the game had, is Venom's wristwatch (or something like that) and his boots by Puma, I guess.

Probably not his sneaking suit since kojima gets inspo from animes etc BUT the mgs3 combat fatigues are more likely to be available, and you were in the army so you would have seen a few of those
As for sneaking suit you may need a wet suit with arm guards and kneeguards etc with the correct gloves and bouse dampening boots

The Puma boots were either limited time only or got scrapped... I remember checking for them constantly, and they apparently somehow got scrapped before the game got released. Maybe the contract fell through?

The fatigues are easy to get, you can get them from various surplus or contractors. I'm talking about the impact-resistant sneaking suit that noise dampens your footsteps.

Fatigues don't really do anything for you, they dirty up and tear fairly easy. And without a plate carrier bullets obviously slice right through them.

For 1150 USD?! No freaking thanks! If I want to be like Big Boss I'll train in the gym and study SWAT tactics, for that much money I could get an M16 service rifle!

It costs about R$7.800 here.

tbh the design for that stuff is in animes and japanese media its not something that people use/is available irl
closest thing are splinter cell type suits used by sas or swat

You can get something like that made by a military contracting supply, but they'd start asking too many questions as to why you're wanting it made, and it would probably cost close to 800 thousand USD per unit, not to mention things like having to tailor it to your body and such
It would probably be easier to make it then it would be to try and buy it.

Exactly. When you want something done right it's best to research and have it done yourself.

Clothing I don't know much about, but, fortunately, there's tactical gear that you can mod and patch together that are in various body sizes.

By next year I'll hopefully have one developed and show it off to everyone.
