METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

60Hz > 144Hz For This Game
As the title states, I have a 144Hz panel monitor with g-sync. Yet, by lowering my refreshrate to 60Hz the game seems to run much, much smoother. This is also the case with other open world games like The Witcher 3. So my actual question: Why is this the case? Is it fixable/tunable in relevance to my hardware (i.e. is 120hz better, grpahic options for ideal playting, etc, etc)? Any help/info would be appreciated as all the fourms i've viewed state a variety of things.

Specs: 1080 Gtx, I7700k stock clocked, 16gb ram.

Did you uncap the framerate to go along with the higher refresh rate? 60fps doesn't exactly sync up with 144hz. So gsync is dropping your refresh rate pretty far.

No should I try that? I figured if I had done that my fps would fluctuate to much as i doubt i could maintain 144 fps. Also, how might I go about uncapping the framerate? I assume its through a game config file but if you could help me out that'd be dope.

MGS5 doesn't take much hardware power, honestly. You can find info on uncapping here: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_V:_The_Phantom_Pain
