Is The Definitive Experience Edition Worth it?
Hey guys, I've only been PC gaming for about 6 months now and I really enjoy revisiting old games I found to be exellent on console. Alas, MGSV is clearly a fantastic game, I don't need convincing there. However, should I just say F*** it and pay the extra 10 dollars for those 14 items? I read some of the descriptions and could use some clarification on what exactly i'm paying extra for (i.e. examples of new content, etc etc).

Also, does anyone has any anecdotal evidence on how a Gtx 1080 paired with a I7-7700k on a 144Hz monitor would handle this game? Would be aiming for max settings at 2560x1440p resoultion.

TLDR, but yes, You should. Ground Zeroes and MGS3 uniforms alone are worth it. BUT - you can and probably SHOULD wait for Winter Sale which starts in about 18 days.

Then you can get everything for 20-23 euros. And less money Konami gets, the better.

The game is superbly optimized so I wouldn't worry.

A 1080 will ♥♥♥♥ all over this game. It doesn't take remotely close to what's listed as requirements on the store page.

Above 60fps is another matter. The engine is by default locked at 60. Or 30 if you use a menu option. It CAN be uncapped, but I can't speak for how stable that'll be through the entire game. It's worth trying, but I'm not gonna guarantee it's completely playable.

Info on uncapping can be found here: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_V:_The_Phantom_Pain#High_frame_rate

Yeah i figured it would be capped at 60, which at max settings at 2k resolution is def an upgrade to the xbox one lol. It's honestly astounding how much of difference 30 frames make when gaming. But my refresh rate is 144 so id prob cap it at that and if the frame dips are too severe I could always cap it. Many open world games start to get buggy if you go past 60 fps as their are sync issues and what not. But thanks for the quick replies! I'm gonna buy it now xD

Enjoy. Just... play ground zeroes first.

Really? I think I'll do just that, considering I haven't ever played that on xbox, and even if I did I have no memory of it whatsoever. Is it just like a Dlc mission or something?

Yes, completly. I would highly recommend you buy it- the game is 100% worth it.

Ground Zeroes is... kinda a demo for phantom pain. It's what occurs right before Phantom Pain starts.

Play GZ first as the story leads up to TPP and you can also unlock some stuff for the game too.

Ground Zero is an important prologue and it teaches you basic mechanics of the game.

It's also one of the most atmospheric missions & intros ever created. Here's to you...

I've never really played MGS and only for a little over a year, I've actually had a proper gaming PC again. Now $$$ is still much for me, but guess I should get it at US$6.37?

Problem is all these $11 here and $5 there quickly adds up over with the ZARiculous stae of the currency XD
