MGSV

I really like MGS 1 because the story is pretty self contained and not convoluted like other games in the series. Other than that every game is good in its own way.

MGS 1 could have ended like that and I would be happy.

I agree MGS 2 is brilliant and the plot twist actually had a purpose and deeper meaning. Mgs2 was my least fav game when it was first released. Looking back it was way ahead of its time.

I've only ever played MGS1 and MGSV, and in my honest opinion... Metal Gear Solid should not be played for its story.

It's a bit rubbish in my opinion. The only thing that's cool is the walking tanks and nukes, but the nanomachines, parasites, mind control, cloning, AI, viruses, archae, and all of that other nonsense makes the story very unpalatable.

And it's a shame, because the actual characters like Ocelot, Liquid, Big Boss, Snake, Otacon they are actually very well written. It's just the weird twisted plot that's rubbish and makes the series a bit tarnished in my opinion.

The correct reason to play a MGS game is for the gameplay, and I think MGSV has been the best so far.

Wrong. MGS was always a lot about story. It was always a lot about long cutscenes and extremely rich story. That's why MGSV sucks so bad as MGS game. But you can't know since you played only MGS1 and V.

For me the bast story has MGS4. Yea, i don't care about the nanomachines all the time. Everyone hates that MGS4 was all about nanomachines and everyone loves MGS3, which was good MGS but the reason for every supernatural stuff in MGS3 was parasites. It just wasn't explained there. Same goes for MGSV. Also, MGS4 has very good balance between both story/cutscenes and gameplay. Which can't be said about every other MGS game. And nothing can beat the final fight with Liquid Ocelot.

The only correct answer. Except possibly Ac!d 1/2.

People who followed the MGS series since the beginning understood that MGS 1 revolutionized story and cinematic experience in interative media.

It just happens that MGS also excels in the graphic/ gameplay/ music/ art direction/ (pretty much everything) department.

Now people who complained about MGS 4 having too many cutscenes were mostly new players to the series. They either didn't understood or cared for the story and just wanted more gameplay...

it's hard for MGS 4 to compete in terms of gameplay and online multiplayer component in a world where COD and Halo dominated the gaming industry back in the day.

MGS 4 was a huge fan service and if they didn't understood what MGS represented and went blind into the game without any prior knowledge then it's their fault..

Other than that no game is perfect.. and one don't expect MGS to have the same level of online multiplayer as say COD or CSGO would have... it's just not possible... but, what MGS excels at is its single player.

I think a great story stands the test of time more than anything...

Graphics, gameplay, etc.. will always improve... but MGS will always have a special place in my heart because of its story and special codec moments

I agree with you on that

Not sure if trolling... but, PO had a better story than Peace Walker IMO. It was actually a very good game on PSP..

actually the parasits/ zombie crap was mindlessly introduced into MGS V for no reason...

MGS 1 always served as an alternate Earth and should be overlooked for all the supernatural stuff.. but, instead one should enjoy mgs for its anti-nuclear message amongst other things.

A story doesn't have to be based on reality to be good.. It can be sci-fi and still be a good story...

Nuclear weapons can be used as a good deterrent for smaller countries. Complete nuclear disarmament is a bad idea. The only real anti nuke message of the Metal gear series is "Don't be stupid and give it to terrorists. Bad idea bro."

Question is, which plot twist? There were so many of them, it's hard to actually keep track of them. At the end of the game, you get really confused, and it takes a few days to pick up the pieces. But the game was, as a whole, absolutely amazing. I gave it a 30 minute playover yesterday, and the game is even more Solid than I remembered. It's one game I can't wait to replay.

the one and only plot twist silly.. the one that you're in a simulation (granted not that simple)

it's a very philosophical game which i like that subject =]

i hate run and gun games... so i dont play games for gameplay (how ironic???) but i play games or watch movies to get something out of it.. similary people dont read a book to improve their reading skills but to get a message out of it.
