Where's Solid Snake during the time of MGSV?

So if Eli is leading a group of child soldiers in Africa, what is David up to in 1984? Is he hanging out with Zero? Sorry if there's already a codec call about this in the game somewhere but frankly I don't want to sift through those.

All we know is that he had a (slightly) more stable upbringing than Liquid, but was raised by multiple foster "parents" who didn't really care for him personally, but were just there to groom him as a soldier and successor to Big Boss. He entered formal military training as a teenager, a few years after the events of this game.

According to the wiki he was raised by multiple people over the course of his childhood, and then entered military life in his teens.
