Edit: Oh console versions... That I think they are. Why don't you try it?
If you're wondering about buying DLC and using stuff that came with the US Day One disc, create/switch to a US PSN Account to unlock and download the DLC. Once the DLC is downloaded, switch back to your UK PSN account and all the DLC should be shared. (Disclaimer: I know this works for things such as DLC items and weapons and stuff, but I don't know if it works for consumables like the XP Boost).
In short, you can play the US region game on your UK PSN account, and you can use US DLC on that account. But, in order to get the DLC, you need to use a US PSN account to get it, and the switch back.
If that sounds to be too much of a hassle, then I highly recommend returning/refunding the game.
I don't know, that depends on how Sony set up their PSN infrastructure. It may or may not download patch data from the US servers.
The game itself should work fine, but do keep in mind that if you ever want to acquire any of the US game's DLC you're gonna have to follow the steps I listed above about switching between your UK PSN Account and a US PSN Account.
but i put my us game in my friends and it worked with no issues but you will not be able to play the (zombie part) with anyone who has the other country's version of the game bc you cant shoot off their heads...but the non zombie part you can play with any one in the world
so just depends on the games and if you want to play with others for co opt/ multi player mode games
single player games you will have no issues
Online play is optional, although its heavily integrated into the game's mechanics.
Its not regional though, so things like FOB Infiltrations and such (when you unlock them) shouldn't be affected by the region of the disc.
Edit: Unless, Konami created a special English version specifically for Europe due to Germany's laws, like the other guy mentioned. But if that were the case, your US version would have a much larger playerbase for you to interact with for the online components.
