Support platform (Core) basement, one near the base of the stairs. Make sure you stay out of its range
Command platform (Core) Second last level, hidden next to the stairs. There are two more mines that are a few levels below that can often catch infiltrators offguard; can't pinpoint their exact location.
There are some custom-placed mines which can be positioned in such a way that they can be counted as "invisible", since you can't shoot them or disarm them. But these are rare and only show up in really high level FOBs. As far as i know, most people use the default positioned mines.
Edit: Mines emit a small laser-beam in a 120 degree radius. If you move past this beam, obviously it will detonate. You can walk slowly past it and pick it up as well.
Check T-YAN's videos on youtube to understand what I'm talking about. No, Konami doesn't care that people are cheating in the PF Rank, let alone worrying about some custom mines.
I was on FOB defense walking around with 2 of my guards when suddenly the game went into slow-mo - I figured it must be the invader since I play with reflex mode disabled.
Then suddenly both guards get knocked out right in front of me and fultoned into the air with no intruder in sight.
Then 2 seconds later I "won" the defense because the invader withdrew. Although it was fun listening to Miller laugh at the invader for running away.
"HAH! Way to go Snake! He took one look at you and ran away with his tail between his legs!"
- or something like that
