mission start point
I am on the ground and have finished a mission, and want to start a new one. So I select a mission near where I am and the game places a marker on the mission point, but also a marker at the "mission start point". If I am let's say a mile north of where the mission takes place, and the "mission start point" marker is a mile south of where the mission takes place. Do I have to go way out of my way to get to the mission start point to begin the mission, or can I just go immediately to where the mission wiill take place - which is so much closer? Thanks

Have to go to the start point

If you start a mission from free roam, yes, you have to go to the starting point. However, if you pause the game and return to ACC, then select a mission from the mission select screen while in the ACC, you don't have to drive to mission start points.

Going on foot also gets you slightly different intro sequences. It's a nice change of pace.
