Holy grinding
Is it just me or does anyone else find this game to be a massive grindfest. I am not too worried about grinding MMOs, but man oh man, this is a single player game and wow the amount of time you have to allow for resources to trickle and I do mean trickle in is mind-boggling.

I thought once I unlocked the fulton to extract containers was unlocked, I would be able to run around in the field and extract all the resources I would need, but nope! All they do is go in to the unrefind area and then have to wait for them to be refind. I have a 3/4 upgrade on my base for resources and the amount that gets refind is minimum.

I am around 80ish hours in and am no where near having enough to unlock or upgrade my base or equipment. I have a 4/4 comand center, a 3/4 R&D a 3/4 resource and all the rest are on 1/4 or 2/4 and all my guys are A+ a few A++ and some S, but don't have enough levels to be able to upgrade to the good equipment to make the grinding a little easier. Just looking at how much resources, versus levels you need to be able to unlock the good stuff, you will be practically done with the game.

Might take a few weeks off this game, beginning to feel like a 2nd job, rather than fun!

Gotta git gud at FOB missions.
A moderate difficulty FOB mission will give you about a million GMP, plus whatever you can steal in terms of resources and personnel, and each different platform has a material type that the mission rewards you with as well.
For instance, I'm getting about 8,000 - 10,000 (refined) fuel every time I successfully infiltrate a Support platform, plus maybe a couple extra thousand unrefined if I'm feeling greedy.

if you are not getting involved in FOB's then you won't need to grind anything, all offline development items are enough to play in SP part of the game, online development is for those engaged in FOB's

I am talking about the single player mode and not the online FOB and the SP mode is a grindfest IMO

It's really not. You get an absurd amount of resources and soldiers from the challenge tasks as you play.

ummmm.... if you divide Development Items by those developed offline and those developed online - then you notice a considerable difference in resource requirements.

Offline development items do not need much and you can grind everything with ease in SP.
Online development items are nuts, you'll need 2000 hours to grind everything if you do not play FOB's as FOB's give you a lot more resources and are more suitable for grinding.

But if you do not play FOB's and you intend to develop both offline and online items I just don't see the point

I never found the SP side of the game grindy at all. It's only the end game that is grindy. Try doing to the FOB Event 150 times in a row. That's grindy. The SP side of the game isn't nearly as bad as you're making it out to be, although if resources are your problem, at least do the FOB Event a dozen times or so before you say it's grindy.

You get a whole lot more from 1 FOB mission than you do any SP mission except maybe the end game ones that are Extreme, Subsistence or Stealth.

if you need only resources and you are not experienced at fob, visit some empty bases (lv 0..1) from security challange. no guards, no security devices. just walk to the core and gain in 1 minute the amounts demanding a hours of grinding in sp..

Well if you are waiting for ressources to process and you don't want to do FOB you can always do side ops missions, it's not like you'll run out of them or something, zam.

Single player is tight with resources, the only "stable" I use "" because the resources you get are random depending on the mission, is combat deploy, which gives you a miniscule amount of resources for about 30-45 minutes of wait time, other than that its just contaniters, so I would agree on the grinding thing, I had to quit for a while because it got really repetitve due to the need to grind for stuff to upgrade, but people use to farm containers in missions, but Konami always patches it,so guess you just gota grind.

If you are grinding for resources in SP, you clearly aren't spending enough time gathering pre-refined materials. They are there, I promise.

Yeah I collect them as well, flowers, small resource box's and containers, but it is not just resources, it is also finding all the high level personel for the base!

It would have been nice if the resources your base refined would tick while you were not playing the game, Quiet a few games has that mechanic in them!

Yeah, I have run so many side ops, so much so they have become so repetitive. I will start playing more FOBs, but like I said I am going to be taking a break, so burnt out ATM!
Hawk Mar 11, 2017 @ 11:05pm
It's a really grindy game, especially when and if you decide to break down and build up your FOB, mid tier level goes up to 4-9 mil (& well beyond that cost) and takes 10 full days just to research basic items, yeah that's not a grindy system at all right? Oh right you can always grind or pay MB coins, because you know Konami and the devs who worked on this game made it the way it is for that exact reason, to be a cash cow Fee-to-Pay system that punishes anyone who doesn't either have days to grind for cash or started later or simply does not have the time to waste on grinding. Nothing like doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over for pennies while making sure things cost millions to prove that your game isn't a giant grind. That's just the online portion the Single player portion gives you a fraction of pennies versus the exorbitant costs to research and just to deploy in the open world or mission or even an FOB job.

It's pretty obvious really and I'm not surprised to see "fans" defending this system but at times out right ignoring it then turning around and blaming the ones who question this obviously unfair and purpose built system that is forced on the player base if they want to get anywhere.

Trust me the FOB stuff is 90% just as much if not more repetitive then the single player is. I can not understand why or how people defend it or even continue to play it beyond the initial shock that this is all that they managed to come up with.

♥♥♥♥ FOB missions. The forced online in singleplayer never brought anybody to this game. The only reason it exists is to milk some pay to win money out of a few suckers. The materials shortage in offline is solely to support this pay to win scheme by pushing you to do FOB missions.

That said, you don't really need much of anything to complete singleplayer. Virtually all the developments are icing on the cake. You could really go through the game with tier 2-3 gear. Mission 29 (no spoilers, but you have to kill stuff pretty hard) is one of the only times that necessitates using 'the big guns.'
