I've had this game since May, so maybe I'm just a little nooby. Seems everyone just uses the regular old sneaking suit(I know I do because I haven't done that fake save and then refund thing yet).
This is pretty much it. I mean I have the sneaking suit and Naked Snake's sneaking suit developed to grade 6, but never see a need to use it. Battle Dress is the sneaking suit with additional armor, so it makes sense that is the one more commonly used. If not using Battle Dress, I prefer to use blending camo.

also, at higher grades the SV costs more precious metal than the regular sneaking suit. that's also why people use the regular sneaking suit more often.
EDIT: and when u wear the SV sneaking suit you can't show off your emblem on your right shoulder!
High grade sneaking suit sucks because of the way damage mitigation scales in MGS5.
Battle Dress' defense stacks on a much higher defense with each grade compared to the sneaking suit.
At first the two seem almost comperable like for example:
Sneaking suit reduces dmg by 10 with the Bdress reudcing by 20. A difference of only 10 dmg - you would die pretty quickly wearing either one and would probably not even notice an obvious advantage to Battle dress.
But by the time you reach grade 10? Battle dress is now blocking 200 dmg Vs Sneaking suit's 100, a difference of 100.
Basically what it means is that sneaking suit starts to really suck the higher it goes, without offering any benefit whatsoever. Defenders and NPCs can still see you clear as day, whether you appear black in Night Vision or not.
I personally find the black sillhouette wearing a pair of green goggles much easier to head shot than a radioactive blob with barely distingishable parts - although both are pretty easy anyway xD
Hope this helps!
So I guess using SV sneaking suit over the regular doesn't mean ♥♥♥♥ the farther I get then, just the camo at night and the sound thing is really all that matters. And wow, I didn't know that battle dress defense upgrades were better than sneaking suit defense upgrades. Somebody should put up a table with all the numbers :D
yeah its not clear exactly how much defense each suit gets, but just judging by how each suit feels in play and having used each grade for a pretty long time as I've leveled them up over the months of pvp - I can pretty safely guess that they both start at some baseline defense, then just stack that same defense on with each grade.
The reason battledress pulls so far ahead by the time you research grade 10, is because the baseline defense it keeps stacking is higher than the sneaking suit's. For the sneaking suit, it would be like trying to win a race against someone who's allowed to take two steps each move Vs your one - even though they started out in the same place, battle dress quickly pulls way ahead.
If I had to pin an exact number on my guess.. I'd estimate the grade 10 battle dress is 35% stronger than the grade 10 sneaking suit. Something that would normally kill you dead in your sneaking suit will probably leave you in moderate red hp in battle dress.
You're still in trouble and could die, but its like getting a 2nd chance at living that you wouldn't get with sneaking suit.
But wow. I might as well just stick with that sv sneaking suit. You die so quickly once the weapon grades get so high, even a grade 6 battle dress would get destroyed so quickly if you're facing level 7 weapons. Having just a reg sneaking suit would make you die just a little quicker. Might as well use SV cause I like the looks better(did the fake save :D).
But if you go for higher FOBs, Security Challenges or there is a high Chance of meeting a Player, the Sneaking Suit is the best Choice, because you definetely dont want to shine like a Christmas Tree in Nightvision, so the Enemy knows where you are all the Time.
And then there is the Health Regen. Sure, you can absorb more Bullets with the Battle Dress, but it takes very, very long to regen your Health. With the Sneaking Suit you go in Cover for a Moment and get fully healed.
I use sneaking suit a lot because it counter NVG and make me a little bit more tanky so if a defender may come I usually use that instead of battle, zam.
@Deathraven
Only 30 minues a day, huh? xD
I don't want to make an argument from authority, but I feel like I can speak from experience when I say: Sneaking suit sucks
Good players will still see you just as well as they do with your Battle dress and the health regen isn't worth it.
The massive health pool you have with Battle Dress allows you to survive situations that you could never survive with the Sneaking suit, especially if a defender is involved. If your logic is that sneaking suit makes you harder to spot when a Defender comes, you will be horribly mistaken and unprepared for a real fight when he comes.
The reality of your higher level fob example is that the odds of you triggering an alert are extremely likely if you've chosen a load out that could defeat a defender. (Especially if you've entered a security challenge where you're pushing fast to the core) And when that happens, you will want a battle dress imo, it will be the difference between getting hosed down by 1 burst of GR 10 AMRs or being left with red hp after 1 burst, able to escape and recover your hp.
About the sneaking aspect of your suit, you seem to be making the *very* generous assumption that just becuase you're hidden, a player like me or anyone else wouldn't know where you are.
You might be aware, but this game constantly pings your exact position on the map to me and based on my experience with 100's of defenders, I know exactly where you are hiding and I promise that suit won't save you.
Its your game though, play it how you want xD
