Undercity Crashes
While i'm waiting for the elevator and fighting monsters the game crahes to the desktop. When i restart the last save point it loads temporarily and then crashes again. I have restarted and played from the beggining of the level twice with the same results. It seems every time i get into a heavy duty fire fight the game crashes to the desktop. This has happened in earlier levels as well, but i was able to restart from the last save point. Specs: Win10 Pro, 3570K @4.1 ghz, GTX 970 @ 1354, 8gb DDR3 @ 2133. Nothing OCED, just turbo. I'm hoping this isn't a game breaker...really enjoying the game. Any ideas?

Reload from chapter select?
fishcandy Aug 14, 2016 @ 8:37pm
Yes, reloaded from chapter select but crashed further into the level, waiting for the elevator fighting off monsters. The first playthrough (continuing from previous chapter) it crashed earlier in the level but glitched the last save file forcing me to restart the chapter. The second playthrough (from the chapter restart) crashed and also glitched the save file. When i try to reload the last auto-save within said chapter the game just crashes to desktop. The game plays fine 95 percent of the time but when i get into a frenzied fire fight with monsters it crashes. Not geting a GPU driver crash or blue screen. Recently finished playing Wolfenstein - The New Order with zero crashes! Not sure what's going with this game.

Forgot that my memory was oced so I reset to default and by all accounts has solved the crashing issue. Played through Undercity and now in Contagion, full steam ahead!! For some reason this game doesn't play well with oced memory, at least on my PC.

Depends on the system, my system hates OCing regardless of how stable voltages and temps are.

Your right, each system can react differently. My system was oced to 4.5 cpu 1454 gpu and 2133 memory but defaulted due to the crashing issues. My oc is rock solid based on aggressive testing while keeping temps low, water cooled. I've completed several games recently, Wolfenstein-The New Order, Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite, AC Syndicate and many others with the above settings and had zero issues. I do know now that the oced memory was causing the crashes for this game. It would interesting to see if other gamers have had no crashing problems with oced memory, cpu/gpu while playing this game.

I solved my random crashing by Un-checking the games .exe as "Read only". Makes me question why the hell it was Read Only to begin with. Someone bludgeoned something up.

Not to mention I was only crashing because the games opted to be more suited for Nvidia graphics cards. I use AMD.

Don't worry if that didn't fix it though. Literally almost anyone who plays the game has Crashing issues. There are lots of guides online about fixing it so. You'll just have to reap a couple forums in order to find if there's a possible fix. I had to check the comments of a YouTube video to find out the file is Read Only.

My game crashed at this level at that very stage too. Now it always does when I try to continue. The memory isn't overclocked on my end. I don't want to try starting the chapter over, as this is my second playthrough for the remaining achievements and I've had enough of the level.
