How long is this game?
As the title asks, exactly how long (with all episodes combined) is this game compared to previous the RE installments? Longer, shorter or about the same?

I'm not really fond of paying and playing games that are sold in pieces, because they tend to be short, so I was wondering should I waste my money on this one at all.

If this is becoming an new trend for gaming industries, that they are selling their games in pieces (with Appstore prices), then after several years of break, I might consider getting a life instead of playing games that aren't sold as whole.

I would personally rather buy the game as a whole for 40€ rather than buying it in pieces for total cost of 30€. It's a small price to pay to get better gaming experience.

About 6 hours for campaign for first timers on normal difficulty.

Adding to that, raid modes and online events. Maybe another 3 or more hours if you only play each of the raid map only once on the lowest difficulty( 52 maps including throwback maps).

So if you are a casual and get bored after playing only once then maybe you get 9 hours of play.

If you are a completist, all the campaign episodes, the struggle , little missy on all difficulties and types(invisible and countdown) and all the raid maps on all difficulty (about 210 maps) and trying to unlock characters and weapons. Maybe about 100 hours or more...

Depends on your playstyle. If you like to explore then you might end up with 10 hours+ on your first playthrough.
Raid mode is a different kind of beast and if you decide to play then you may end up with high hourcount.

Campaign only 6 hours, with all episodes included?
I'm kinda disappointed. :(
When it comes to RE games, online content such as multiplaying never really picked up my interest in the previous installments, so I doubt it will now either, and with only 6 hours of campaign this game doesn't seem worth the money, even if it is only 5€ for each episode.

Oh well, I'm waiting for the RE7 if they ever decide to make one. Thanks for your answers.

If hourcount is that big of importance to you then 6 would be your only choice.
Even 7 won't be as big. We're talking about 20-40 hours with co-op.

Co-op is another thing I never liked in the previous games. It kinda ruined the whole horror genre in the franchise for me (though it wasn't the only thing). Mostly because the game was so forgiving for the mistakes, because you always had that co-op partner, be it AI or another player, backing you up. And what's left when you remove the horror from the game? Just plain old and average 3rd person shooter.

Now, don't get me wrong, I liked those previous games, but only as shooters. They just weren't scary enough to be counted as horror games, mostly because of that co-op option. But that's just me.

You easily get about 15 hours out of the campaign and the two (short) bonus episodes together. There is no way you beat it in 6 hours on normal difficulty on your first run - except for maybe skipping every cut scene and rush on purpose.

You may add at least 5-10 hours for (offline) raid mode and a not measurable time for online raid, challenge maps and so on (if you are into that stuff).

http://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=21258 says: 10h 16m - 28h 50m for main story with extras. Median is 13h 41m

First playthrough is about 6-8 hours. (4 episodes)
Bonus episodes are about 1-2hours each (2 episodes)

However the replay value is vastly extended by the Invisible and Countdown mode.
Also Raid mode can provide you a couple dozen hour of playtime if that's your kind of thing.

When people refer to co-op in this game, they are usually talking about raid mode. Which is glorified Mercenaries really. The actual singleplayer co-op is only available locally and even if you have someone to split screen it with, the second player doesn't have the kind of role they did in RE5 and RE6.

This game took a huge step away from those games in terms over the top action and having a second beef bus partner to shoot at everything with you.

That being said, I've felt like this series really deserved the "horror" moniker past Code Veronica. Revelations 2 is a step in the right direction.

with all 6 episodes id say its closer 8-10hours with a lot of means to replay. raid mode can also last dozens of hours. for $25 youre getting a good deal.

I see.
But because I'm a cheapskate person, I'll wait till the whole thing is on sale, not just one or two pieces. :)
But I appreciate you all for replying, so thanks for that.
