Raid Mode: Scagdead help
So, title says it all really. In raid mode those things kick my ass, generally I have to use a blue heart for every 2 that show up. They seem to be able to move as fast as I can run, so reloading my weapons generally is what gets me killed.

So pretty much, what's your guy's strategy for taking them down without taking much damage? Because I'm having a really tough time with them.

The most easy solution for noobs is - If all else fails, grind some exp on maps that you can handle and overlevel you character.
Ice ammo, decoy bottles, and ice bottles work well for dealing with these guys. I recommend a good magnum with ice ammo if you don't have those bottles.

Ice/decoy bottle + Full burst magnum with elite and dmg bonuses and gg.

Ice shot, don't use homing bullet parts on your weapons that you use as aiming at the foot will just hit the main body instead, when you know when one spawns, it's important to start immediately shooting the foot to make it go down for a bit.

I have the Rocket Launcher skill now so I can handle them quite easily, but I did beat all Code Red Stages before getting it, so it is do-able by running away, preferably onto something that it has to climb up on, and unloading on it.

Shoot them in the knees, They'll go into a stun state for a melee attack.

Ice bottles and or decoy ones, as others have said. You could use a magnum with full burst but that's just to nooby for me.

I carry an Anti-Material Rifle around for crap like that. For fast Skagdead's, its usually unload in to them, and then throw a smoke bomb at them to get them to stop running after me. Run away, reload as necesary, and go back to pumping them full of whatever makes the most sense at the time. If I don't have any smoke, unload, quick turn, and run like mad until I get some distance, reload, and pray it doesn't gut me when I turn around to face it.

how can people have trouble with a SINGLE scagdead.... on first raidmode you had to fight 2-3 of em at ONCE. here they never show more than 1 at a time. and rarely with any additonal mobs at all. and there is ALWAS room to kite em around like mad. just make sure there is always an obstalce between you and them BEFORE you reload. if you fight on open space when they have something that boosts thier speed youre doing it wrong. thats general advice for any boss.

throw a ice bottle and they are done for. just unload everything. if all else fails get the launcher perk... its really not hard at all to stop em this time.

Not all players are good at that. Plus not all players use the most OP combo's the game can gives you.

Elite Scagdeads are the primary reason I use ice ammo on my magnums or even sniper rifles. Unlike Revelations 1, their saw arm hits you even if you run past them, which is annoying.

Like burning, I think the freeze condition stacks -- one application slows them, and another application freezes them solid. Ice ammo doesn't last long, but the ice magnum will slow them enough until they get closer, then you can throw an ice bottle, giving you a few seconds of easy shooting. For additional damage, you can slap on one of the ice damage bonus mods if you have a free slot, or use this opportunity to safely use your Crouch Damage skill.

If it has a barrier, decoy bottles are good, or you can use stealth or smoke screen bottles to get behind it, then use the freeze tactic. And since time is of the essence, I recommend using a magnum with a faster rate of fire, like the Python, 2005M, or 329.

And of course, there are always rocket launchers to speed up the process. It's overkill at this point, but if Capcom ever adds level 100+ stages, they might be good to have.

There's a range of options - and it usually boils down to a combination of any/all of them.

a) Abuse terrain / environmental aids (Explo-Barrels, Electro-Generators, Ice-Canisters etc) // force them to areas they can't get through too easily so you can unleash free damage. eg. There are escalaters and stairs where the sides can be shot through - so by kiting them up and around them, you can DPS them for free while they can't actually attack you.

b) Rapid fire weapons with Daze can loop Scags into endless CC loops - either to make space, or kill them outright if you have ammo to burn.

c) High impact weapons (AMR's / Magnums) to hit them in their sweet-spot (legs to stun, small-head to burst).

d) Chuck a smokescreen and run - They'll reset into undetected state and you can leave them there provided you have enough distance and remain out of sight. This can work in some levels where enemies spawn during the fight -- but sometimes enemies are scripted to spawn only after it's killed - so use this sparingly. Otherwise, use it (or decoy) if you don't have stealth cloak so you can attack barrier-scags from behind - High impact weapons will usually keep them stunned // back turned to you per shot until they're dead.

d) Elemental ammo/bottles to slow them / burn them // electro them for extra damage etc etc

Depending on where you are, you could do the following:

- In a place with a circular part to it (something that you can run around in a complete loop), run away until you get distance for enough time to shoot it a few times. This will take a long time though. (I only really do this for the Sprinter Scagdeads)

- Dodge-dance with them to bait the Scagdead into doing it's 3 move combo and on the last move, it'll stay in position for a moment, which is where you can hit it's weakspot with a good number of shots. Dodging to your right gets you on the side you want to be when it finishes a combo attack.
