I don't think he meant it that way...you know...he is probably referring to the design.
As for the whole thing about Claire's face...I do prefer younger Claire over this one (the one in my avatar, for example) but I also like this Claire too. She's still really pretty and aged well, imo.
Honestly, it was more of a knee-jerk reaction to her appearance in the very first prerendered cutscene. I think a big part of it is that I'm LPing Resident Evil 2 at the moment, so the changes are a lot more evident to me. After finishing Episode 1, I think I've sort of gotten used to the new look.
Oh god, your avatar reminds me just how bad they aged her in REV2....Meth is bad kids!

Don't even f*cking pretend that you couldn't rip the model directly from Degeneration and reduce the poly count or the texture resolution of the skins. That ♥♥♥♥ came out SEVEN YEARS ago. Trust me, game graphics now could handle that level of detail for the character with no issues. Whether Capcom could or not is I guess obvious.
They did the same thing with Revelations one. They ruined Jill's face, too.
Claire, Ada, and Jill all literally have a different face in every game. Claire in RE2 vs RE CV vs DSC vs RE5 vs ORC vs Rev2; Jill in RE1 vs. REmake vs RE3 vs UC vs RE5 vs ORC vs Revelations; and Ada in RE2, DSC, RE4, RE6, and ORC.
The only characters exempt from this have been Leon and Chris. Obviously Chris changed entirely from RE1 and CV to 5 and 6 and Revelations, but he stayed the same since 5. Leon changed too, but stayed the same since RE4.
But yea that's the alleged, poor excuse. "She aged."
Degen took place, in-universe, in 2005. She she's 25 there. Moira Burton was born in 1991. So she must be at least 18 in this game. Meaning it's going to take place around 2009 - the same time as RE5. Claire wouldn't even be 30.
I don't know if Capcom has met any 29 year old women, even in their own country, but unless your profession is literally doing heroin 24 hours a day using meth as an alternative, your face isn't going to go from Picture 2 to Picture 1, ever. Like OP said, her entire SKULL changed.
Four years aging especially unless you smoke 3 packs a day, stay up all night in t he dark staring at a computer screen, and generally abuse yourself still isn't going to do that to your face. Even ignoring the skull changes.
Yea she's still *cute*, but ♥♥♥♥ that. Sorry. ♥♥♥♥ it.
PS "low budget" has no relevance to completely redoing a model when you already HAVE the assets and it would literally take less work to reduce the poly count and re-animate the model.
Also watch your damn mouth. Alyson Court is Claire Redfield. There is no "superior" to her.
Haha I'd almost rather play with this mod, that's how bad I think her face is!
Spiderman Redfield is pretty ugly, but at least the voice actress isn't atrocious like the original and at least I could actually recognize her face instantly, unlike stock generic old Claire.
