Resident Evil Revelations 2: This is how to fix the D3DERR_DEVICELOST error.
This fixes the D3Derr message.

Note: You will need to enable hidden files to see the file in step (1.).

1. Go to C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS2, open
config.ini, Type "Ctrl F" to display the search panel, search for "FullScreen" and
change FullScreen=ON to OFF. Save and close the window.

2. Start the game. It should now launch in a window. In the options menu Change
framerate to Variable and Vsync to OFF. It is very important that you do this
first or the game will crash. Do this sequence correctly! If you manage to crash
the game go to step (7.) to reset the config.ini file and start over.

3. Set all other options in the graphics details to what you desire. You will mess
with the resolution next!

4. Go back and change the resolution and change it to what you want.

5. Now finally, If you did this sequence correctly you can change FullScreen=ON
and exit the game.

6. Game should now launch and run just fine.

7. If this doesn't work for you, then you can also delete the config.ini file
if you want to reset all the display settings to default. The game will recreate
this file when you launch it again.

You are welcome everybody! I am happy I could help! I was so happy to get mine working also!
@mad_mage I am new to the discussions, How to do I get this "pinned" so I can help others!

@Proofreadhale my comment was aimed at the moderators who are presumably keeping an eye on discussions and have the option to pin useful topics such as this one.
@mad_mage Okay, Thanks!

I did all of this and it didn't work. WTF do I do now?
@Darth cuddlefluff, Are you able to run the game in a window?

@Proofreadhale Yes, but it doesn't solve the problem.
@Darth cuddlefluff Remember, you need to change the frame rate to variable as I instructed, turning Vsync off by itself will not work. Also, try reducing the the resoultion to 1280x720 (720p) after doing the other steps and before enabling fullscreen. Hope it works for you now. My game did not like 1920x1080 (1080p), I also had to reduce the resolution.

@Proofreadhale Unfortunatley I did that too. I even have it at the lowest setting possible and I still run into the problem. Stranger still is that I have only been experiencing this on the main campaign. The Struggle, Little Miss, and raid mode work perfectly (and are quite enjoyable).
@Darth cuddlefluff Did you try deleting the config.ini file and re-starting the game to reset the settings?

where can i find the config.ini file in the resident evil revelations 2 folder?
what I did was a temp fix, which was going into the folder and running the app in windows 8 compatibile mode
@Proofreadale Indeed I did, I followed the instructions to the tee.
