Steam Remote Play is basically a broadcasting of your gameplay
in Resident Evil Revelations 2 there is no online coop feature for main campaign, just a local splitscreen
if i remember right, then you need two gamepads to activate it ("keyboard and gamepad" combo isn't working, afaik). someone created a hack/patch that allows to play a splitscreen game with whatever combo you want (link below), but don't does it work right with the latest version of the game
with Steam Remote Play you and you friend's instances of the game will be synchronized and game will believe that both of you are in the same room playing in local coop (splitscreen). instead of regular graphics both of you will see a videobrodcast of each other's gameplay
you can play with your friend in main campaign even if she is far away from your location, but you need to be sure that your (both) bandwidth is good enough to receive and proceed a video in a good quality
test Steam Remote Play with some other games first if you have such opportunity

You need 2 controllers, you need a good internet connection and particularly a good uploading speed.
I guess you could play with your friend if she isn't TOO far away. In my case it works with border countries.
guess, I have confused that game with some other one
I don't understand what is going on. I try to invite my brother who has a controller plugged into his computer (I also have a controller plugged into mine.) When I invite him, he can only use keyboard and mouse and it makes him control the same character that I am using instead of us each controlling a different character.
I told him to press start and nothing happened. The only way he can control anything is if he uses the keyboard and mouse and then it makes him control the same player I am controlling so it's useless.
Once I got it to go into splitscreen and give me control of player 2 by pressing start on my controller but when that happened, he couldn't control player 1 with either the keyboard and mouse OR his controller.

Thanks for the tip but his gamepad works when we are not doing remote play together. You have given me the idea to look over his steam settings though.
I was going to suggest installing its drivers too.
It's generic pad?
It's an XBOX controller.
Just need two controllers, spin the 1P controller so the game knows that is the first player then press start on the 2P controller and split screen is on
