Bug with Burboun in Lost Tunnels

So I'm at the Lost tunnels part where I'm being guided by Bourbon, and I'm at a part where there is this long open tunnel with water at the bottom and a lot of destroyed trains. I walked through most of it without paying attention to Borboun, and I'm at the end where there is a dead end and a staircase that I'm guessing you need Borboun to lower for you. However Burboun has not been following me, and I can't get him to come. If i try to return to the previous checkpoint I return to point at about the middle where I've just jumped out of a traincart at an edge, and Borboun is still not there.
Is there any way to return to a even earlier point, or do I have to restart the entire game?

You need to go back to the main menu and select the chapter from there.
