Linux , issue using microsoft comfort keyboard 5000

The microsoft comfort keyboard 5000 that I use with my HTPC/gaming rig is a combined keybord & mouse set sharing the same one usb wireless dongle to connect to the PC. Metro 2033 Redux on linux recognizes it as a controller plus a keyboard instead of a mouse plus keyboard & therefore it is unusable to play this game. This keyboard/mouse set is coorecctly regognized and usable by all dozen other linux steam games I have tried to play on this rig.

GTX 580 gpu
4GB PC3-1866 RAM
OS Slackware64-curent
Nvidia Driver 364.12

Not sure how linux does it, but those keyboards have a driver application on Windows10 and they aren't flagged as controller..

Various Microsoft Keyboards, Mouses and Wireless Nano Receivers for them are misidentified on Linux yet. It's a mistake on their part, making hardware that presents itself somewhat wrong to the system. A handful of other brands and models have similar issues.
