Bug: Picking up modified Shambler shotgun cause Game Hang

Mode: Spartan, Normal
Level: After Spartans save Artyom from Nazi execution cut scene
Bug: One of the knifed Nazi's carries a modified Shambler shotgun, attempting to pick it up will cause the game to hang, and requires manually an End Task from Task Manager.

This is similar to the earlier post about modifying a Shambler shotgun causing the game to hang on the Armory level requiring a Ctrl+Alt+Del to Task Manager, and having to forcefull end Metro 2033 Redux's process. Since this hang is the same on multiple levels, this suggests a systemic bug, rather than a random bug on a specific level.

Tests:
=======
1.) Restarting the game does not resolve the issue.
2.) Restarting the chapter does not resolve the issue.
3.) Checking files via Steam states that 100% of all locally cached files are healthy.

+1 for fix. It seems you and me are the only 2 people in the whole world with this bug. At least here on steam.

I just bought a Shambler from Market and modified it... aaand it crashed.

The game hang with a modified Shambler still occurs after the Aug 28th update. On the surface and saw a Shambler with Scope next to a dead Nazi Ranger, picked it up and the game completely hung again.

same problems over here. Ewerytnihg what matter with modified shotgun will mage game to freez and dont work.

I can buy the Shambler with NO Modes on then it fine.. but then i try to mode or pick up a moded one . BAM! crash

Guys i have news!.. Now i have the Shambler fully moded..( HOW DID YOU DO THAT) im glad you ask.. I tryed with the laser. and ofcause it freez and i had to Alt-delete.. NOW this is what i did..I DID NOT close the game after that..i gave it some time around 20sec while trying o open my crome but then! the game went from not working to working... i tap in and BAM! my shambler with laser sigh.. then i try with longer barrel and better scope.. now this time it was freez for 1min or so but it work.. i now have a fully moded shambler :3 PS! after i put the barrel and scope something funny happen it was like my firstperson view was liften few cm up.. and closer to the gun.. but it went away then i came to the next chaptor... this was in the Market i tryed this :) I hope this help you guys :;3

Just bought the game recently, I also encountered this bug. As long as I tried to mod or pick up a modded Shambler shotgun, the game will freeze.

I agree with "Demolicen the Science Engineer". He's method actually worked. Just alt-tab and wait, it takes up to a minute or longer, you'll hear the game sound again and alt-tab back in, you should have the modded shogun and can continue the game.

And this carries to last light too, every shambler, the game freezes for about 10 minutes

The whole game is one big bugfest, after so many years not even a proper update

Same here. Haven't found a solution anywhere. That's pretty frustrating, ugh. And when I played this game a few years ago, I didn't have this bug! Pretty annoying.

♥♥♥♥♥, forgot to add here: solution is wait. Just... wait. select it and look at your phone for a few minutes. It WILL load, it just takes forever. Why? Who knows!

It is not really a solution. It's just a crutch and it's still annoying as hell.

Well, I should have used the word workaround instead of solution. Yeah, PITA still, but it "works."
