Game breaking bug in D6

So I'm in D6 and I'm at the part where you go down some stairs into a basement/sewer and you and the remaining companions are jumped (one guy has died up to this point). So after you kill the monsters everyone except one guy moves deeper into the tunnel, and the game won't advance because the one group member isn't there. As far as I know I can only reload a previous checkpoint and that checkpoint is the start of the attack when the guy is already bugged. I'm playing on xbox1 2033 redux. Is there any work around? I've been loving the game, I really want to finish.

Reload chapter (not checkpoint) from start from chapter selection menu, or try the previous chapter.
