Moral Points

ok i keep finding different answers for what i wanna know so i'll try asking it myself and see which one ends up being correct.

so i'm going for the Enlightened achievement and i got moral points up to D6 part of the game, but i realized i missed a weapon for Weaponsmith achievement. so i went back to previous chapters to get the kills, but i ignored all the moral points because i already got them the first time i played those chapters.

now this is where i get different answers. does replaying chapters erase the moral points you get from first time playing the chapter or can you replay chapters to your heart's content without worrying about losing moral points you already got the first time around?

some people say the amount of moral points you collected save in the last chapter that you currently have unlocked and replaying previous chapters doesn't reduce that number, but some say if you replay chapters you have to get all moral points on that chapter all over again, meaning needing to finish the chapter fully.

so which one is it? i'm gonna hate myself if i screwed myself over by reloading previous chapters to get Weaponsmith achievement when i should've just finished the game getting Enlightened achievement instead.

I think that when you earn a moral point you keep it even if you backtrack. The way you know for sure is if you go back a chapter and re-earn that moral point, if the screen doesn't flash for you you know it was already saved from the first time you got it.

that's the thing, the moral points i already got always flash when i replay a chapter which is why i'm confused by it.

ok so i finished the game and got the Enlightened achievement even though i went back before finishing and redid a few chapters for the weapon kills achievement, so it would seem the moral points you originally get in chapters stay "collected". not sure if finding more of them overrides the original number of them you found, but you don't need to recollect them when replaying chapters and the auto saves won't reset them to zero.
