Only 2 mouse buttons can be remapped
I can't play games unless I can map a lot of buttons to my mouse (I've lost my left hand below the wrist).

For most games, this isn't a problem, I can remap as I please.

But some games, especially ones first developed for consoles, the remapping of keys, especially when involving the mouse, is quite poor.

Unfortunately, Metro 2033 Redux is one of these games :( Only the first 2 of my 10 mouse buttons can be remapped. This means it's unplayable for me.

Please guys, when you do control customisation/remapping for a game, do it properly....

My mouse has 5 buttons and the scroll wheel, all can be mapped natively in game. Razer deathadder worked both with and without Synapse. You can use a key remapper (something very useful for your condition) or even ahk scripts if for some reason your drivers aren't working properly, which seems to be the case.

Actually, my OP is wrong, sorry, I can remap 3 buttons. They aren't numbered in game, they're referred to as LMB, MMB, and RMB. Nothing beyond those 3 can be remapped, although most other games allow it.

Same issue here. I don't know if this is Linux-specific or across both platforms. The game does not recognize anything beyond mouse button 3 (middle mouse button/scroll wheel button, whatever). I have a trackball with 5 buttons. The way it is set up it's impractical for me to use mouse2 (or mouse3, for that matter) for aiming. I'd have to do strange contortions with my hand to make it work at all. If I could map aiming to either mouse4 or mouse5, then I would be golden, but the game doesn't recognize mouse4 or mouse5. I can probably figure out a way to do this with a 3rd party app that does key rebinding, but this is 2015, we've had mice with more than 3 buttons for over 20 years now. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to make mouse 4 and mouse5 work. It's kind of sad how many games still don't recognize mouse buttons beyond the first 3.
