No choice to get good ending
*spoilers* So I finished tthe game on the bad ending my first time thinking that it was because I shot down the dark one. So he dropped down, I returned to the tower, and then the bad ending cinematic played out. A while later I decided to go back and try and get the good ending. I discovered that shooting the dark one had nothing to do with it, and that it all depended on whether you shot the dark one or the missile thing. So I played through the tower chapter again, all the way up until the 'choice'. I stood on the tower with the dark one on the ground and a gun in my hand, and then, bad ending again, roll credits. I don't know why this is happening, after I recover from the vision, I have no control afterwards, the screen just goes black. I am completely unable to achieve the good ending. Can someone please help me?

If I remember correctly, in order to get the good ending you can kill only few people, you have to donate your money to people that need it, you need to listen to conversations, etc. Mostly I think it is that you can't kill many foes

Find a guide or something, you need to do a lot of things to earn the good ending.

If it is your first playthrough, just play it blind, take the consequences for your choices and enjoy the game.

The so called bad ending is how Dmitry Glukhovsky did it in his novel.

Wow, I feel educated. I already knew all that. I know what a book is, I know the lore of the universe in which Metro is set, and I know what actually occurs during the game and what Dark Ones are, you completely misunderstood my discussion.

If you don't have enough moral points, Artyom doesn't wake up in time to give you an ending choice. If you have the choice, you'll know because you get a radio alert that there are 20 seconds until the missile lock is complete.

Earning moral points usually involves giving away ammo or refusing rewards, listening to conversations until the end, exploring hidden areas, and for clearing levels without killing humans. There are also ways to lose moral points.

Short version: Look up a moral point guide. If you don't have time to shoot/shove the aiming device after the final fight with the dark one, you didn't have enough moral points.

Ok thankyou. I just find it strange how the game predetermines what you choose. Just because I murdered a few Nazis, the game decides I want to commit genocide on a significantly advanced species of creatures in the next step of Human evolution. The bad things I do are often for a completely different reason than 'coz i liek blud'.

To be fair, the "bad" ending is the ending that is based on the book and continued in the sequel, and Artyom's entire mission was to destroy the Dark Ones. Sometimes I wonder how well the Rangers took their sacrifices being in vain in the good ending.

While making it harder to get both endings quickly, Last Light might have used the moral points to determine endings a bit better, since it's not the choice of the player character but the choice of someone who knows what Artyom has done. That way it doesn't feel strange when you can't make a last-minute choice because you haven't been nice.

Metro Last Light assumes Artyom did set off the missile strike, so even if you did get the "good ending" in Metro 2033 it is not aknowledged in Last light.

Also the "bad ending" is true to the book.

To get the good ending you must first rack up an amount of good moral points, which is gained from doing good deeds in the game or listening to people talk or even finding a secret area. When you play adventure everywhere, listen to everyone, and always do the rught thing.

You can alos get bad or negative moral points, which decreases your moral score.

I don't. I was completely and utterly baffled by what jr.miqell attempted to communicate. See, I can read and write English with more than a smattering of competence, while he obviously wouldn't know Strunk & White's Elements of Grammar and Style if it hit him on the head.

In order to get the "good" ending¹, you can't rush through like you would in a timed trial. You have to do a lot more wok ferreting out interaction opportunities, remembering (or noticing) that this game doesn't highlight animals, people, and items of interest…and that's a real pain in the backside because lots of interesting-LOOKING things aren't.

------------------
¹ Total pain in the tuchas if you ask me; you'll drive yourself CRAZY not killing guys desperately begging to leave this world prematurely. The good ending requires a LOT more patience, stealth, planning, and optional objectives' completion than the normal ending (calling it the "bad" ending is somewhat silly—it's the post-apocalypse!).

I find your post extremely ironic, what with how you basically implied he's stupid at the very beginning and all... and then followed it up with... whatever that was, that I just read through... I'm going to guess irony wasn't your actual intent.

-sigh-
