Controller Stick Drift / Walking Drift Fix
Can't say that this will work for everyone, but there is a solution from about 8 years ago that seems to be the only 'fix' I can find...only it doesn't work anymore.

That said, it looks like you can use Steams Controller settings to change the controller settings to function from the keyboard controls. This was an easy and instant fix for me once I realized it was possible. Best part, should work with any version of the game NOT from steam as well...just set it to start with Steam.

Your own controller has drift? Mine did and I wasn't able to fix it but then I noticed "settings>controller>calibration & advanced settings" (while controller is active) has an option under joysticks for deadzone. There is multiple rings for refernce and I was able to pinpoint the deadzone and for some reason this way seems better than the usual controller config edit.

Yeah, my post actually didn't perfectly fix it for me like I thought. After playing more it was still buggy. I did EVENTUALLY get everything working, thank God. I had to map each button and think pretty hard about what I was doing to make sure everything was accessible on controller. In the end, it's not a perfect 1:1, but it's pretty damn close, and works smoothly at least. Only thing I can't do for some reason is sprint-jump. I can sprint, I can jump, I just can't sprint jump....but oh well.
