Whats up with this?
So how does the scene after reaching the top of the tower work?I planted the directional beacon and then I'm in this square pile of rocks so then an alien grabs me and I fall off the arm at the top of the tower. The grapple key is supposed to be "v" or "e" and neither one works.I fall off?And what's up with the weapons that don't work that I'm given without much of a choice. That flame thrower never worked. And what keeps taking my gas mask off?I'm surprised I kept at this game with all those annoying remote handicaps that will ruin the game on higher difficulty levels.

In the ethereal plane you cannot fight back against the Dark One, you have to run away from him! :D:

I did that first and just kept going in circles, so it made sense to me to face this guy and at least feel like I'm going someplace.Do you mean keep running away from the dark one?I was getting dizzy from running from running in a circle.

There is this one part where when you keep running around this 'pillar', you have to go around a couple of the corners and then turn back around to reveal a new path. My first playthrough a couple years ago I got confused at that part too. I ran around that pillar 30 times confused on what to do haha. If you make it past that stay away from anything with a red-colored aura because those always kill you.

Alright that's exactly what I did 20 times and changed directions. So when I saw the dark one I thought I was supposed to go that way.
I'll try something else next.

Yeah, this dream sequence confused and baffled me the first time I did it. I hadn't really understood any of them throughout the game, and I almost stopped playing in this one. Basically just run away from the dark ones. Eventually it will turn into sort of tunnels or paths that construct themselves in front of you. There is a specific path, and taking the wrong path will lead to your death. There's no marker, you just have to keep at it until you make it through. If you get annoyed I can provide a link to my playthrough.

OMFG....I forget what a pain in the arse that part is until you have done it a few times......

Keep going at it and eventually you will work out what you need to do, or rather which path you need to take.

Wow, thanks.
Restarting from the last checkpoint put me back in the square room with the pillar.
