Run out of filters, game over?

I've got to an undergound battle with a bunch of nollases or whatever they're called, and I find myself in a green pool with a gas mask on. Problem is I'm dying every time because I run out of filters and there are none to pick up.

Is that basically game over for me?

Go back to a previous chapter, either to where you have more filters or can buy some, then replay... move faster, explore more (you've probably missed filters), avoid time consuming fights, take your mask off until you start choking/everything gets blurry then put it on for a few seconds to extend whatever time you have.

If you say where you are someone may be able to point out what filters are in the area.

You can get about 8 seconds of air if you keep taking the mask off and putting it back on, do that continuously until you find another filter

Thannks for the advice, hate having to retread old chapters but I may have to. I didn't want to say where I was but:

I've remet Khan and Miller and others are using the document to get to D6 - and we're underground fighting Nolasses with one of the guys having died - I find myself in a radioactive pool with about one minute of time left on my last filter

There should be some boxes on the floor in that room. I just beat that game, had to look fo rthem, but they are there.

Do you remember more or less where those boxes are located?

It turns out I have just run out of filters in the very checkpoint, so every time I start, Artyom takes out the mask and i can't make him wear it again (that trick).

I am trying to find the boxes but no luck yet.

This is why I don't like Metro. Stupid filters and linearity which means you can't go buy or farm filters if you're out. Also boring monsters. Stalker all the way for me....

Yeah, but that's the difficulty of this game. But i understand your point.
To the filters: reload chapter. I played on survivor hardcore and had no problems with filters.

I guess you are searching too long in some areas? And which weapon do you use? To beat the nosalis effectively for me was using the AK-47 with military ammunition.

So when you reload the chapter, a comprehensive search of the areas in the first four segments or so will turn up more than enough filters for you. In the warehouse room just before the big control room there is a ♥♥♥♥ ton of stuff scattered throughout, including a key to one of the safes in the control room.
