Is it just me, or are the voice actors for the kids in this game absolutely horrible?

So I just got to the part where the little kid is standing over his dead uncle, and you carry him on your back. But the awful awful voice for this kid is really ruining the immersion for me, I literally cringe every time he speaks. Am I the only one?

I tried Russian... but I can't stand it, since I have no idea where sentences begin and end. Also I have problems recognizing the emotions of the voice actors...THAT kills my personal immersion. And that's why I keep English voices. I also can't understand why ALL the children's voices have been changed. When I encountered the first kids in the early stations I thought "Nice, finally more than one voice actor". But the child with the dead uncle was too much for me. Even the old voice, which isn't particually good either, does a much better job. The sentence delivery alone... who thought it would be good to have interrupted sentences with bad timing?!

What is more I had no major problem with Artjom's new voice in LL... but the final sentences in 2033 Redux... no, just no. Don't ask me why.

Just started playing 2033 Redux. I was impressed in the beginning. Very good quality...and then this kid in the beginning, talking about his mother? "When is mom coming back", or something like that. I walked past the kid and heard him say something, I stopped, turned around to look at him and thought "what the hell is wrong with that kid?" First of all, he has a grown up's voice trying to sound like kid. And the voice "actor" is trying so hard to sound like a kid, that the amount of childishness (this word exists right?) is too much to match the size of his body. I though...oh no not one of those games...can't stand adult voices trying to sound like children. Well, that's what I thought. Let's see if I'll be able to ignore this and enjoy the game. :-)

This thread is very old. Children's voices are dubbed by women. It is true that they could give the children the opportunity to do that dubbing, but the result would be quite rare. So for those of you who don't know, children's voices are dubbed by voice actresses.

of course the thread is old - the game is old! and it is obvious that its 32 year old anushka dubbing lil sasha. but all that doesnt change the fact that if you try to let yourself be immersed into the game, the voices are super weirdocreepy!

I know, i know, im commenting 8+ years later. Im not gonna start a new topic just for this.
Just finished Redux a few days ago, its been a while compared to when i played OG Metro 2033 about a year after it's launch.

Totally gotta say, those changed kid's voices were weird. Its not a man doing a kids voice, its a woman! In some games they use strangely a woman to do kid voice overs and i could clearly hear a grown woman here.

I missed hearing an actual kid, talking and also their funny way of saying "Brains".

"They'll eat their BWAINS".

Yeah, having a WOMAN do a male child's voice is creepy.
Old voices was normal kid, no reason to change it.

They shouldn't have changed that kid's voice. Play the game on russian with subtitles.
