Metro 2033 or Last night?

I'm new to these series, and both games seem pretty interesting, but as a newbie, which one should i start with?

May i ask why & what does Redux stand for? o:

It's the "HD update" for lack of a better term. The old games were PC and Xbox360 only, and the "Redux" adds some freshening for the PS4 and Xbox One. The PC also got a "Redux" version that wasn't that comprehensive, but it mostly added some improvements from Last Light to 2033, which was an older game. That said, 2033 is still a very graphically impressive game, but Redux is the newer version of it.

Also, story-wise, the events in Metro 2033 precede those in Last Light, so playing them in that order makes sense from the viewpoint of following the narrative.

Another name of Metro: last light it's Metro2034.
Metro2033 of course should be first

Get metro 2033 first then last light if you want to follow the story. i just bought 2033 redux and it is amazing, even though i only played for abt 10 mins

No, Metro Last Light does not follow the story of the novel Metro 2034 (where Hunter is the main protagonist). I don't know if Last Light is canon, but is still a good story.

i think when they are making last light, they announced a partnership with metro author, and wrote a completely new story for last light, but i can't remember if its considered canon or not by the metro author.

but since hunter didn't show up in last light, it might not be a canon

The author of metro helped write the story of this game and it is cannon as his next book is going to be about metro last light

I bought the Redux. Playing this reminded of how good this game really is. The sequel just doesn't compare to this one. They should have updated the documentation.

Yeah playing through redux atm. This is one of my favorite shooters ever but between the two I think I liked the originals graphics better.
