60 FPS stuttering issue
Hello, I have searched through all of the previous threads about Metro 2033 redux stuttering but none of the solutions have worked for me. I have an i7 3770k @ 3.9GHz and a GTX 660. I keep getting really small but noticable framerate drops from 60 to 58 or 57. It's really annoying and ruins the game's immersion and instead I have had to cap it at 30 with higher settings. I have SSAA off and have tried changing every in game setting as well as enabling triple buffering and disabling in game Vsync as some have suggested.

Is there any true solution to the stuttering in this game? Thanks; for the time being I have resorted to capping the game at 30FPS where the stuttering is no longer present.

i turned off physx and in main menu, go to graphic options, theres another physic type options you can turn off.
Finish the second chapter and see if goes away. It did for me, but vsync doesnt work too great, but its cool. If i keep vsync off, i get 200+ frames and i dont notice stuttering, but my gpu uses more power, which i dont like. cuz the fan gets louder, oh well. they outta patch vsync or the first 2 chapters. I dont think physx is optimized for other games either.

I have tried these and the issue still persists. Thank you anyway though! :)

most likely one of two of these will work for you at least to some degree if you havent tried either already. go into nvidia control panel. set max prerendered frames to 1, adaptive vsync on and triple buffering off. Or 2nd best solution would be to set max prerendered frames to 1 again, regular vsync on and triple buffering on. On both occasions turn vsync off in game. Also for both in the control panel have power mode to max performance, threaded optimization forced on and clamp negative LOD bias, shader cache on

Yeah I'm getting the same thing. It seems Vsync in this game is not really true Vsync :( This is highlighted by people with 120 and 144 FPS monitors that are getting ~60FPS when the in-game "Vsync" option is enabled.

Instead of actual vsync it's some kind of frame rate lock/limiter. It's definitely not syncing to my TV properly (like any other game with real Vsync) and it's definitely not using triple-buffering (which is preferred). The stuttering is pretty annoying indeed.

I tried turning the in-game Vsync off and then forcing Vsync with AMD CCC but no dice--doesn't work.

Any other ideas to force Vsync and triple-buffer for this game?

I was having the same problem, it seems to mostly affect people with i7 CPUs. Try unparking your CPU cores with this

Fixed the problem for me completely, hope it helps you.

Thanks for the help, but I'm already three quarters of the way through the game and have played at 30 fps all the way so far, it's a bit late for me to start playing at 60 fps by unparking cores. Thanks anyway! If I have the same issue with Metro LL Redux I will unpark my cores!

I guess I can try this though I still don't think you should have to. There's this and then there's disabling HT (which might result in less/no core parking as well) but seems so roundabout to get a game working where, really, it should work properly "out of the box".

Probably going to request a refund for the game/bundle, but I'll give it a shot before doing so.

Easy mode to unpark cores without messing with registry:

https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/

Set the two option on the left to disabled, and set windows power plan to performance.

Lots of people both AMD an Intel have the stutter with audio crackle and unparking cores has does wonders for this game.

Edit: my experience was with windows 7, have not yet tested with windows 10.

run PC maintenance. Your PC might be clogged up with junk thus reducing performance.

for paid apps try Auslogics Boost Speed. For free ones you can try CCleaner. Removing junk and scanning the registry for errors makes a big difference. Auslogics Disk and Registry defrag (both free) is damn good too to make your pc faster.

then run malware scanners like Malwarebytes (free version) and Spybot (free).

Lastly make sure your NVdia drivers are up to date.

Then oh, if you're using Windows 10, that might cause issues too since everything about it is so new. Advisable to downgrade back to windows 7 and 8 till it's more stable later in the year.
